It's A Plaid, Plaid World...

I will be joining the Tablescape Thursday party at Between Naps On The Porch. Thank you, Susan, for hosting this favorite of mine! Be sure to follow the link so you won't miss out on any of the special tables everyone has set this week.

To enlarge any of the pictures, just click on it.

I am not sure which was the inspiration, the plates or the tablecloth, for this week's tablescape.

The plaid tablecloth was a recent find at Savers. The napkins were also a Savers purchase a while back.

The plates are stoneware by Hearthside, the pattern is Mayblossom. The plates are pretty large 10¾-inches. They are tan, dark brown and white flowers. These were found on one of my trips to Sally's (Salvation Army).

The salad plate is Oneida Classic found a couple months ago at Savers.

I have had the green stemware for at least 15 years, probably closer to 20. I bought it at World Market in Phoenix.

The only thing blossoming really good, other than correopsis, is lavender right now, so I grabbed a handful, a few small hosta leaves and a couple Swedish ivy plants that haven't made it into the hanging basket on the back porch, yet. I really like the bright purple with the green/brown/white of the table.

The candle holders also came from the thrift stores...like almost everything else!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, it is always appreciated when you leave a comment so that I know you have been here!

It's Not Just For Christmas!

My favorite time of the week...Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch! Thanks to our host, Susan, we can enjoy many beautiful tables each week.

I am also going to join Sue over at It's A Very Cherry World for Wednesday is Rednesday, this week. Thank you, Sue, for being a gracious hostess. Please make sure you stop by Sue's to see what is being shown red this week.

To enlarge any picture, just click on it.

The inspiration this week came from this homemade/handmade tablecloth I found at the thrift store awhile back...no, green and red are not just for Christmas! I really like the limey greens with the red. Someone sewed panels together with a zig-zag stitch to make this unusual tablecloth, it is almost like a multi-colored toile.

I have used the red Waechtersbach plates and Home Essentials and Beyond Cabbage Collection plates.

The water and wine stemware was purchased at Goodwill. I don't know either maker or pattern, but think the green stems are made by Indiana Glass as they are the same shade of green as the sherbets, which are Indiana Glass King's Crown/Thumbprint pattern.

My inexpensive little point and shoot camera doesn't take very sharp night pictures...but I did get another blue hour shot this week.

Most of the pictures don't have flowers, one of the kitties is bound to tear them up! I don't know what it is about certain ones...especially peonies!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog, it is so appreciated!

Another Thrifty Table

I will be, once again, joining Susan of Between Naps On The Porch this week for Tablescape Thursday. Thank you for hosting my favorite meme, Susan!

To enlarge any photo, just click on it.

I have more blue and white dishes than any others...so here is another blue and white table.

The tablecloth and napkins remind me of spring; blue for the sky, yellow for the sun, green for the leaves and white for my untanned legs!

The lime mums and filler flowers are from my Mother's Day bouquet and the peonies from my garden. The vase is a little white pitcher.

I am using the Blue Tulip by Independence Ironstone dinner plate as the charger plate. While trying to find out anything I could on this pattern, I noted that Replacements, Ltd. has these listed at $21.99 each. I am astounded at the prices of some dishes found in the thrift stores for just pennies! And does anyone actually purchase dishes from Replacements, Ltd.?

Close-up of the tulip pattern.

On top of the charger is blue cameo-ware luncheon plate by Harker Pottery Co. Cameoware is made using a process called intaglio, which is cutting a design into a colored glaze.

Up close view of the cameoware.

Topping the luncheon plate is a white salad bowl, which may be some type of restaurant-ware as they are quite heavy. The back has Classic Oneida in green on it.

Profile...The sterling flatware is Oneida Afterglow 1956.

The stemware is a large crystal ice tea/lemonade and a milk glass wine stem.

Taken last night before I decided the Gerbera daisies were too far gone to look good. I just noticed I got a bonus "blue hour" picture, too!

Blue And Orange Table For Two...

I will be joining Between Naps On The Porch, with our gracious hostess, Susan, for another Tablescape Thursday, my favorite meme. Please stop by her place so you can enjoy many more tables that all the participants have worked so hard to bring you their eye candy!

Thank you, to all who stop to visit and take the time to comment each week, it is very much appreciated. I do try to respond to each one.

I love a good hearty breakfast, so I decided to do my Mother's Day breakfast table for two.

The plates and flat saucers are Royal Sebring, Ohio Blue Willow that came out in 1948. The cups and little bowls just have "Made in England" on the bottoms. All of the Blue Willow was found at different thrift stores in the area. The orange plates are Waechtersbach Germany Orange Peel that I found a few years ago at TJMaxx.

The bright orange glassware came from e-Bay, sure wish I knew who the maker and what the pattern is so I could look for a couple more pieces, as I only have these two. I really like them, they are so bright and cheery.

I know that candles aren't used for breakfast but I thought the little crystal birds were cute so I added them to the table. They take small candles and the only ones I have that are the right size are either green or red, so I chose the green.

The beautiful flowers were from my husband's daughter, Stasha...they are perfect for my peach colored dining room. Thank you, Stasha!

Napkins and tablecloth are both from thrift stores, where else?

See you all next week...please, do stop by BNOTP to check out the other participants of Tablescape Thursday.

A Splash Of Color

I will be joining Susan of Between Naps On The Porch for another fun week of Tablescape Thursday. Thank you, once again, Susan, for hosting my favorite meme of the week.

You may click on any picture to enlarge it.

Friday I had to go to Lawrence to pick up a few things I can't get locally. While there I kept seeing, mostly men, standing on the corners with signs. These signs were advertising the opening of a new Salvation Army Thrift Store. Seeing I was already nearby, I had to stop in to see what they had. There were literally hundreds there, barely enough room to push a cart down the aisles.

While weaving my way through this mob of people, muttering under my breath for them to move, that I didn't have all day, I finally got to where the dishes were! It looked like they had been pretty well picked over, but on the very bottom shelf I found what turned out to be my inspiration this week...Pier One Mosaic Fruit. I got 4 dinner plates and 4 salad plates, left the rimmed soup bowls on the shelf. Each piece was 99¢. When I looked them up at Replacements, Ltd. I almost fell off my chair, they are asking $25.99 for one dinner plate and $15.99 for one salad plate. The soup bowls, I passed on, are listed at $19.99 each! I almost decided to go back but didn't, it is 100-mile round trip. If they are there next time I am in the area, fine...if not that is fine, too. So, for less than $8 I have dishes worth almost $170 according to Replacements, Ltd. Friends, if you have this pattern, hang onto it!

I was pretty sure the wonderful colors in the plates matched stemware I had at home; that was another reason I snatched them up before someone could wrestle me for them.

I thought they would make a great fall tablesetting, with the rich cranberry, greens and golds, but when I started playing around with them, I decided they made a really nice spring setting, too.

Dinner plate.

Salad plate.

Placesetting. The sherbets, Indiana Glass Whitehall, were a gift from my sister, Jerry.

The stemware goes so well with the colors in the plates. Aqua is Noritake Sweet Swirl, the yellow is Indiana Glass King's Crown/Thumbprint, the green pattern and maker are unknown to me. If anyone knows, please let me know.

Isn't it pretty with all the colors? I probably wouldn't use all the stemware at once but for this, it is perfect!

The iris are from my garden.
