A Red and White Christmas Table!

Christmas is clearly descending upon us! I haven't figured out where the year has gone. Now I know what my mother meant when she said the years were flying by.

I have built the table around the red and white I pulled from the tablecloth. Can you believe I didn't choose green instead of red!  I tried to keep it really simple in this season that can become very stressful.

The dishes are either solid white or solid red.

The flatware is my Oneida Louisiana, which I have used often lately.

The glassware is an etched pattern clear and a red with a clear stem. The maker and pattern are not known.

The napkins are a red linen that I tied in a knot and added a white poinsettia.

The centerpiece is one of my many white tureens, this one is Himark Courtyard and the underplate is a really nice deep platter by Johnson Brothers that looks like it came with the tureen. The candlesticks are some you have seen many times.

Rim shot...

Thanksgiving 2012

                 Happy Thanksgiving!
The turkey platter is vintage American Tradition King Tom.

I want to wish my family and friends a Happy Thanksgiving!

It is hard to believe we are coming to the end of the year already...it is almost Thanksgiving! Another year has almost slipped by unnoticed.

The tablecloth is actually a very pale sage green, as are the napkins.

I started layering the plates with a green charger, then Myott's Queen's Thanksgiving dinner plate. On the dinner plate is a plain white Alfred Meakin salad plate, topped with the dessert plate by Myott.

The stack!

The glassware is some of my favorites.

Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to stop by. I hope you will return next time.

I will be joining Cuisine Kathleen for Let's Dish and The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays.

Wildbriar

I love the colors of my Wedgwood Wildbriar dinner plates. The are perfect for a fall setting with the cream, brown, rose and greens. They were introduced in 1957.

I used a machine crocheted table runner instead of a tablecloth. I also used the woven chargers from World Market.

I was drawn to the glassware not only because they are green, but the bubble/crackle appearance.

The salad plate is Sterling in brown and cream. The soup bowl is Johnson Bros. Snowhite Regency.

I have once again used my Oneida Louisiana flatware.

While I was setting the table Mystic was perched on the hutch watching to make sure it was done to her satisfaction!

Thanks for taking the time to visit today. Hope you will return again.

Fall On The Prairie

This week inspiration came in the way of a cream, tan and grey tartan hiding in the tablecloth armoire. I have the perfect dishes to go with it, too!

The dinner plate and bowl are Taylor, Smith & Taylor Autumn Harvest. I like to use them a couple times during the fall season.

The cream salad plate is unmarked, but I believe quite old. They have probably been used more times than any other plates.

The glassware is a smokey grey. I have green ones like them.

The very plain fork and knife are 1847 Rogers, pattern not known by me. If anyone knows the name of the pattern, please let me know. I would love to find more pieces. The spoon is Oneida Forever, circa 1939. The napkins are Cynthia Rowley in a pale grey blue with my favorite woven napkin rings from World Market.

The centerpiece is one of my many tureens, this one a gift from friends, sitting on a scrunched up crocheted runner. The candle holders are some I have used many times. This time I just sat mini pumpkins on them instead of using candles.

Rim shot.

Thanks for stopping by...please come back next time.

I do hope you will follow me to a few parties this week.

Lunch With Friends

I had friends over for lunch yesterday so I did set a table and even took a few pictures! I started with a cream lace tablecloth, woven chargers and cream linen napkins with brown napkin rings.

I used my Staffordshire Liberty Blue dinner plates that I bought by the placesetting at the grocery store each week when it first came out for our country's bicentennial. The handled Wood & Sons Gay Day cream soup bowls were used for the green salad.

The glassware is Fostoria Monet.

The menu was a green salad, spicy chicken cakes with horseradish aioli, mac/cheese (Vermont sharp cheddar, garlic boursin, goat cheese and a tiny bit of bleu cheese) and dessert was apple dumplings with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Some of the best friends in the world...Margaret, Jo Ann, Norma, Phyllis and SueZ all filled up!

Thanks for stopping by this week...hope you will come back.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people on the east coast that have been devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
