Simple, Simple, Simple

I am all about simple this month!
I was gone all day yesterday so didn't get the table set until night...and today is another overcast, yucky day so the pictures are pretty bad. I took some with the lights on, they have too much glare and the ones without lights are too dark. Hopefully next week will be better for photography!

I started with a red woven placemat to which I added a Johnson Brothers Ming (1974-1978) dinnerplate as a charger. The creamy white small plate and chili bowl do not have any markings.

The mottled red stemmed glassware is some I have used several times. I don't have too much in the way of red that goes with a casual setting.

Napkins are simple checked with a fringe, flatware are a very plain 1847 Rogers Brothers pattern. I sure would like to know the name of it so I could find more...if anyone knows the pattern name, please let me know.

Everything on the table was found in thrift stores!

***Someone just identified the silverware, the pattern is Plain. Thank you to the anonymous poster for the information, I really appreciate it.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, do come back the next time.

Black Ice!

Kathleen's Winter Tablescape Challenge is this week. I honestly had no clue what I would do. With it looming over my head I decided on simple, simple, simple...black ice and snow! I used an old lace tablecloth with linen napkins.

I started with a round black (ice) placemat to which I have added layers of white, which represent the snow. The aqua represents ice.

The white metal charger was in a stack to take to the thrift store, so I pulled them out and layered the Gibson Regalia dinner plates, then a salad plate with a B as the backstamp. On top of that is a dessert plate with raised pine cones from BIA and finally an  American Atelier Athena soup bowl.

On the napkins are napkin rings that resemble chunks of ice, perfect for this themed table! These were purchased at Goodwill for $1.99 for 8.

The glassware is Longerberger stemmed water glass and Cris D'Arques/Luminarc wine stems. I wanted to get a tiny bit more black into the table. I also have these with kelly green stems...they are my favorites of all the many glassware I own.

The flatware is Oneida Afterglow, which was my late mother-in-law's.

The centerpiece is an aqua snowman flanked by a pair of white candle holders topped with aqua candles.

Thanks for visiting this week, do come back the next time.

I will be joining a few memes this week and hope you will follow along...there are many amazing blogs to be seen.

Vera Bradley Strikes Again!

I guess I am on a blue kick right now. This is a table just for the fun of setting, it isn't one we would sit down to eat at. The inspiration for this table begins with a click of the mouse...eBay. I was looking to see if there  were any more Vera Bradley My Home Collection blue chargers. What I found were 5 dinner plates and 3 mugs in the pattern...at a price I couldn't pass up, less than $40 for all. There is a seller asking $24.95 for one mug! I knew I got a deal when I saw that listing!

Last year I did a post very similar using some of the same dishes. I have added a couple more layers.

I have started the layering with the blue charger and on top of that is a Gibson Regalia dinner plate. Next is the VB blue dinner plate that matches the charger, next in the stack is an unmarked creamy white luncheon plate. The next layer is Bordello Pinheiro salad plates in The Frog Service pattern. The final layer is the Copeland Spode Valencia cream soup set.

The April Cornell napkins are brand new from Savers, they still have the original price tags. I paid $1.99 for 4 of them...I just notice one is different than the other three! They are all the same colors so I didn't notice it until I was setting the table. Can you detect the odd one?

The glassware is Colony Whitehall in light blue and the wine stem is Noritake Provincial.

The centerpiece is just a blue and white handled cachepot with a few apples, white candle sticks and candles. I am into simple so far this year!

These dishes make a really nice placesetting even though they won't get used this time!

Thanks for taking the time to visit today and leaving a comment. Please come back the next time.

I will be joining a few parties again this week, please follow with me.

First 2013 Tablescape

I am so ready for something that doesn't have that yuletide look...don't get me wrong, I do love the holidays, but it is time to move on to something very simple.

Everyone knows by now that my favorite color combo is blue/green, so I am starting the new year with it.

I found the Tracey Porter plates on the top shelf at Saver a while back...if you are under 6' tall you would have missed them unless you check every stack of dishes out, like I do. Most of the time they put the ugliest dishes on the top shelf, like the ones with huge patterns from the 70's! These beauties are from the Stonehouse Farm Collection and the pattern is Dream Delicious.

I started with new tablecloth and napkins, also from Savers in lime/cobalt/aqua large plaid. 75% of the tablecloths I find are brand new...I am not sure why, other than maybe they were gifts the recipient didn't like or maybe people that aren't into tablescaping  just don't use tablecloths anymore. The tablecloth was $3.99 and the napkins $1.99 for 4.

The layering started with a white charger, the dinner plate and finally an apple green salad plate.

The glassware is cobalt seeded glass and a handpainted wine stem ($2.99 for 4) that had some of the same colors as the plates.

I happened to have some fun napkin rings that have the same colors as the linens...these were found a month or so ago...they had my colors and jumped into my cart when my back was turned...by the time I noticed them I was at the checkout so home they came! They were $1.99.

The rim shot.

I told you this was going to be a very simple table!

Thanks for taking the time from your busy day to visit for a few minutes...I really appreciate it. Please feel free to leave a comment so that I know you have been here.

I will be attending a few link parties this week and do hope you will follow along with me.
