Independence Day Tablescape

I am using the Staffordshire Liberty Blue china for my Independence Day tablescape. Actually we will not be home, but visiting my husband's twin brother and wife in Ohio over the 4th.

The table is very crowded as I wanted to used several different pieces for everyone to enjoy. I had service for 24 but have downsized to service for 12 in this pattern. I have told you before that I got this in the grocery store one placesetting at a time. I think I had to purchase $25 in groceries in order to get each placesetting free. The serving pieces had to actually be purchased. I had to save $50 or $60 in order to buy the tureen, which was the most expensive piece in the set...that was quite a bit of money for me back in 1975.

Get yourself a drink, sit back and I will just tell you what scene is on each piece as the are many! Sorry for so many photos...

I started with a lace tablecloth and added a red woven placemat at each of the placesettings.

The dinner plate which has the North Church is sitting on an overlarge Gibson Regalia dinner plate which I am using as a charger.

I have used Wood & Sons Gay Day cream soup bowls for the salad course. They are the same beautiful blue and go pretty well with the Liberty Blue pattern. The underplate they are sitting on features Monticello.

The rolls will sit in the berry/sauce bowl which has a Betsy Ross scene on it.

The butter dish has Lafayette Landing at West Point on the lid.

The sugar and creamer will be used to hold dressing for the salad. The scene is another of  Betsy Ross on the covered sugar bowl and the creamer has Paul Revere.

The salt/pepper also have Paul Revere.

The oval serving bowl has The Minute Men.

The gravy bowl also has Lafayette Landing at West Point and the underplate has Governor's House in Williamsburg.

The round serving bowl has Fraunces Tavern.

The pitcher has the Old North Church.

The tureen has scenes from the Boston Tea Party on the bowl as well as the lid.

The 13" platter has Washington Crossing the Delaware and the 12", which isn't shown here, has the Governor's Mansion...there was no room on the table for that or the tea cups/saucers!

Also not shown are the tea cups and saucers. The scene on them is Paul Revere's Ride and Old North Church.
There are many pieces that I don't have...I am going to try to add some of those pieces I didn't acquire back in 1975 and there still are quite a few...

The stars and stripes napkins and napkin rings seemed appropriate for the table...I had forgotten I had them. The napkin rings are probably 25-30 years old and the napkins are some I found at Goodwill a couple years ago...and here I thought I had nothing patriotic in my stash! The flatware is 1847 Rogers Plain mixed with Oneida Forever and an unnamed Italian soup spoon.

The glassware is a plain blue tumbler, possibly Libbey, and the blue seeded wine stems by Artland.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today...come back next time.

Sunflowers!

I think maybe you will be able to figure out what the inspiration for the table is by the first photo...a sunflower tablecloth, big and bright! It makes me smile. I was recently at Savers and this tablecloth jumped out at me...at first I thought someone had put a shower curtain on the wrong rack and then realized it definitely was a tablecloth and that tablecloth was going home with me. With a 30% discount the tablecloth set me back $4.20.

I debated using green and yellow dishes, but figured they would get lost so I pulled out vibrant Waechtersbach red ones. I used an unmarked white plate for contrast. The flatware is Rogers 1847 Plain.

The glassware is ruby Cris d' Arques Antique and green stemmed Luminarc.

The solid red cotton napkin is held with a sunflower napkin ring of painted wood.

The centerpiece kind of fades into the tablecloth...it is the only 2 yellow flowers I have blossoming right now...achillea/yarrow and coreopsis/tickseed.

The rim shot.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, do come back next time.

In The Pink!

Back on March 6, 2013, I did a lime and cocoa table on this same tablecloth. Now I am doing a pink and white table with the same tablecloth. Which one do you like the best?

The inspiration tablecloth and a pink poly napkin held with a raspberry napkin ring.

The pink plates are Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage leaves and the white plates are Royal Stafford. The cabbage charger plates were found in Vermont for $1 each by my sister, Judy a couple months ago...they have a really good thrift store in her little town. A couple years ago she found ten, 100 year old, Noritake cream soup bowls/underplates for $2 per set. The Royal Stafford dinner plates were bought at Goodwill for 99¢ per plate.

I have no idea who the maker of the pale pink wine stem is. I couldn't get a good photo, sorry.

The flatware is Oneida Afterglow.

The centerpiece is a compote with faux white roses and white candlesticks.

The rim shot.

So...which version is your favorite...the green or is it the pink?

Thanks for taking the time to visit today...please come back soon!
