More Roosters!

A couple weeks ago when I was in Savers I found these really pretty aqua 12" dinner plates. They caught my eye being aqua and then I noticed the rooster so I knew immediately they would be going home with me. They were $3.99 for 4, but I was there on senior day so got 25% off. I noticed they has a couple small chips on the rim, but was sure I had some craft paint the same color. As large as they are, they will always be used as chargers, so there was no fear of food touching the paint. Can you see where I touched them up...I didn't think so!

I started with green woven place mats, added the aqua charger, then a green plate and finally the white, blue and green Valencia cream soups, that are used for salads more than anything.

I couldn't make up my mind about the glassware so chose Artland Iris green and a small aqua wine.

Again, I have used the Oneida Louisiana flatware.

The aqua hemstitched napkin is held with a tiny flower pot that I painted with the same touch up paint I used on the charger...and the candle holders!

The centerpiece is a painted wooden compote holding 4 large egg cups in off white and teal. The bottom says made in England, no maker or pattern. They came with white inserts...the eggs must be huge in England because even jumbo eggs fall to the bottom of the cups! I may sue them for pudding/mousse desserts instead of eggs.

Sorry for the quality of some pictures, it was raining and really dark when I took some.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, hope you will return next time. Have a wonderful week.

Monthly Luncheon For The Girls

It was our girls' monthly luncheon was Thursday. I started with the Mr. MacGregor's Garden tablecloth that was found a year or so ago for $2.50 at Savers, they had 50% off certain things on a Monday, think they called it a managers special. To this I added white napkins folded to hold the flatware, also a Savers buy, a dozen for $1.99...I have no idea why they were priced so low as they are really nice ones...maybe people don't like white, any longer?

The white Johnson Brothers Snowhite Regency charger is topped with a Bordallo Pinheiro green cabbage leaf plate. The salad bowls are Minton and Royal Bayreuth. Unfortunately, I only have 6 of the Minton which match the JB chargers.

The flatware is Oneida Louisiana.

The iced tea glasses are Whitehall by Colony in amber.

The "centerpiece" was a little Fitz and Floyd egg pedestal with filled plastic eggs...so original! I got the pedestal at Goodwill a couple years ago for $2.99 less 25% senior discount for a total of $2.25. The gold, white and green candlesticks were a Savers purchase a few months ago.

The menu was an ever present green salad, spinach/artichoke chicken with farfalle, which was adapted from Add A Pinch blog, and garlic bread. Dessert was mini lemon curd tarts I found a few years ago on Mika's blog 350 Degree Oven, some I added raspberry preserves and others strawberry preserves, which I had seen recently on Yvonne's blog Stone Gable. Nothing like a carb loaded lunch...I think everyone enjoyed it, though!

Paper mache eggs hanging from the chandelier.

Thanks for visiting today...do come back the next time.

Birds, Nests and Eggs Challenge

This week Cuisine Kathleen has challenged us to a themed table...birds, nests and eggs! Here is my version...

I started with a plain lime green tablecloth and aqua hemstitched napkins. To this I added woven chargers topped with green and brown Echo Point Collection leaf plates. To the plates I added Boston Warehouse brown soup/salad bowls. I did the table without the tablecloth, but didn't like it...too boring...so you will see a few without.

The flatware is brown Oxford Hall, circa 1973. The glassware is Artland Iris in light green.

The centerpiece consists of real birds nests that had fallen from trees, faux eggs and ceramic birds.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today...do come back next time.

I will be joining Cuisine Kathleen this week.
