Liberty Blue Tablescape Thursday #2

Thank you, Susan, for hosting Tablescape Thursday. Please visit her at Between Naps on the Porch to see all of the other beautiful tablescapes.

I live in an old, small roomed house by today’s standards. My dining room is very small, maybe 13’x13’ with the table in front of two windows with sheers; it’s hard to get any really good pictures. I also have a large and a small china cabinet, 2 tall narrow glass fronted cabinets for my cruet collection, a little reading chair and a small desk/chair all sharing this space. Another big drawback is the room has a southern and western exposure which REALLY affects picture taking, and not in a good way! The only good time to take photos is very early in the morning before the sun starts coming in and that isn't going to happen! Finally…the picture taker needs lessons desperately!

I have used my Liberty Blue by Staffordshire, many, many times. I bought them when they first came out in 1976 to commemorate our 200th anniversary of independence. I amassed them from the grocery store, each week you could get a place setting with each $25 purchase. I believe some of the serving pieces were discounted each week, also. At one time I had service for 24 but now have it down to service for 12. For some reason I didn’t get the covered casserole or rimmed soup bowls but did buy the large soup tureen. I know there are other pieces I didn't buy, such as coffee mugs, placecards, small platter, to name a few. I guess I can chalk it up to being young and not looking ahead!

Oh, what a great collection of Liberty Blue. My aunt has a set of these, and I've always loved them. I have a few pieces, but nothing that compares to yours. Thanks for sharing and happy TT to you!

Hi Mimi, Your Liberty blue dishes sell for a lot more at antique stores now. The tureen is gorgeous, and I love the way you put the whole tablescape together. The placemats are especially great with those dishes.

This is an outstanding collection of some wonderfully historical place settings. Lucky Dog!

I love Liberty Blue. But I only have a couple of pieces. I don't even remember seeing them at the grocery store in 1976 and I was a senior in high school then. You were smart to pick them up then. Thanks for visiting my blog & becoming a follower. It means a alot to me.

I've seen this pattern in the antique stores but never knew it was originally a grocery store purchase. How fun that you have the soup tureen- I love them! You've set a lovely table. Thanks for visiting my blog today. I had such fun decorating for my favorite season.

Ok--this deserves a WOWEEKOWSOWEEE! You don't need to apologize for anything!! THIS I LOVE--man, love the wooden table (is it an antique??--it is beautiful)--it goes splendidly with the blue and white and I love love love those dishes==just awesome!!!! Wish I could come for a visit!!! My cottage has some small rooms--too and it is full of furniture because we had to accomodate some being stored for a son! BUT now we like all the extra furniture--weird, ha?

My tablescape stuff is at SPINDLE COTTAGE blog--I have quite a few blogs so hit on that one to come for a visit!! ;-)

For a small dining room you sure have packed a lot in it!! I have small rooms myself and I do the best I can!! Large spaces are hard to fill for me, I am at a loss with too much room!

Love those dishes. They were certainly worth collecting. Although you didn't get all of the pieces, you can surely mix and match other blue dishes with the set.

Lovely tablescape. Have a happy weekend!!
