Twas the week before Christmas, and where did I stop? Goodwill...to see what I could find that needed to come home with me. I was surprised to find 4 more of the Arcopal 'Provincial' dinner plates and 6 soup/cereal bowls. The prices were just too good to pass up, remember, it is senior 25% off Monday; plates 37¢ each and bowls 2 for 37¢...would you have passed them by? I now have 7 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, 6 soup/cereal bowls and 4 small mugs. I really like the pattern, it is bright and cheery, especially on some of these sunless days which seem to be the norm lately.
The dishes are tempered, translucent and a lot thinner than a regular dinner plate. From what little I have gathered, the dishes are made by ARC International, a French based company, which is also the maker of Cristal d'Arques (crystal). Just because it has France on the back of the dishes, does that mean they are made in France, or in one of their many other world-wide facilities?
Yes, I am very aware of the fact that some of these dishes were used in a previous Tablescape Thursday, but I will be using them again in the future...
I also found a couple of handpainted wood trays for $2.98; not sure if I will spray paint them or leave as is. What do you think? What color, white, black, aqua, green?
There is a new indoor flea market here in town. I only had a few minutes to look the other day...found a silverplate sauce ladle that was completely black with tarnish for $3. It seemed like I worked on it for hours and hours, but finally got it so it looks pretty good.
Hope you all have a great week and thanks for dropping by.

Oh Mimi! What wonderful finds! I LOVE your dishes! And I like the trays "as is"...handpainted. I have found quite a few good pieces of silver that are tarnished and polished up great. I think most people don't want to bother! Happy New Year!...hugs...Debbie
Oh! Old Colony! I love your ladle!
Awesome find there! But you're soo good at finding just the right things too. Whenever I head over to GW I end up finding things that I've donated.. heehee..which isn't a good thing.

Mimi, you did great. Again :) The dishes are beautiful! Where are you putting it all? Larry rolls his eyes every time I come back with something!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my tablescape! I'm a thrift store attic, too. I stopped by on the day after New Years and COULD NOT BELIEVE the amazing stuff they had. Ironstone planters, transferware platters-- if I had more room in my house, I would have walked away with a bundle! I love your finds!
What a pretty ladle, Mimi. And what a deal on the plates! They are lovely. Why can't I ever be that lucky? LOL. ...Christine
Good work, Dish Sleuth! That's a beautiful pattern on the dishes and the soup ladle looks lovely.

Those dishes are just beautiful, you will be seeing allot of my same old dishes this year in tablescapes as well. I don't think anyone could ever see those beauties of yours to much. Thanks for sharing.
