What Was I Thinking...
Here we are again, my favorite day of the week, visiting Between Naps On The Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Thank you for hosting this fun meme, Susan.
You may click on any photo to enlarge it.
While at Saver's a few weeks ago, I saw this white, gray, black and red material and thought it would make a great tablecloth...what the heck was I thinking? I used it tonight against my better judgment...I will be kind, not posting lots of pictures, though. I apologize for any eyestrain this post has caused you...I think I will make napkins with this material and forget about using it as a tablecloth!
Thank you for taking time from your busy day to stop by my blog, it is very much appreciated.

I think it is a pretty piece of fabric. You did a great job of layering dishes that coordinate so well with it. I love your candelabra as well. I think you are going to find that this is one very nice tablescape!! :-)

I like the fabric color...and the dishes look very pretty with it...good job...

I do like how it looks with the black, white and red dishes. The fabric would make very cheery napkins too.
I don't think it looks awful. From far away it almost looks like lace over a dark wood. Seriously.
I don't think I would cut it up.
No don't cut it up! It is fine..
I love the black and white with a pop of red!
You can use black, white, yelloe or red napkins with it..
Cute candleholders!
I love that fabric and I think if you used a solid color placemat on top it would break up the pattern some. Otherwise it looks great!
I love the print! It looks great on the table, but it would also make an adorable sundress, if you really wanted that! Red black and white are so fresh, just what we all need this time of year. Your table is pretty!
No eye strain! I love the color scheme and the fabric, awesome table!
I love your tablecloth! What cute and fun fabric. Love the splash of yellow as well Mimi!
The fabric reminds me of something from the groovy 60's!! I do think they would be wonderful napkins. Maybe with some giant red rick-rack! I love the fabric with the dishes. Lori
The red and black are a lot of fun! Love all of the layering of dishes.

Great tablescape..we had the same colors going on this week!
No eye strain from me, I think it's adorable! I love the black, white and red combo.
I think your fabric is great. I love the black, red and white and your layering of dishes is perfect.
Thanks for sharing

M, I think it looks good, really pops and makes an interesting table. Love the daffodils!
I think the fabric is awesome! You could add a solid color table runner if it is too much in person, but think is fun and a fresh look!
The whole table looks great!
Well I like that as a tablecloth. With the plain plates I think it looks great. Now if you used pattern plates it may be a bit much.
I think you did a good job! I would keep it as is.
Hugs,
Joanne
Are you goofy??? Change is good!!! Looks AWESOME!!! You were thinking creatively and outside the box!!! :)
WOW! What a great color combination. The colors just pop!Great looking & sharp. Good job!
Those layered dishes and white napkins set off the tablecloth nicely! Love the earlier comment about adding jumbo red rickrack!
I love it! Even green would be great!
xoxo Pattie
It will make some beautiful napkins & then you can use it on either red or white or black or yellow, even! You'll get waaay more use out of it that way.
I thought I saw my silverware on someone's blog recently. I bet it was yours, Mimi! We both have good taste. LOL :p
I love the print too! I think it's great! Wish I could use those colors because I really like them. Love it!
I love the cloth! The dishes too! From all my favorite stores! I think one of your roosters that would look great with this too! I love how you use the colors from the cloth!
I actually like the fabric. I think it has a bit of a retro feel and that's my thing!
Oh my what great finds! So pretty! But I can't stop thinking about your lovely blog header. Love the cat!
If not a tablecloth, this fabric would make some very fun napkins or placemats! I have a tutorial to make mitered corner napkins (both sew and no sew) on my rt. sidebar.
They are so easy.
You did a wonderful job layering your dishes amd they do look great with this fabric. Very striking. And your daffodils make everything very pretty.

The fabric is very cheery and you're right. It would make very nice napkins. The layered dishes look so pretty.
Mimi, I really like the way you stacked the colors of dishes. I like the sort of retro look of the tablecloth, and I think your stacked plates are perfect with it. laurie
I really like the fabric and think it's great for a summer tablecloth. Adding napkins would be great.
That's a wonderful piece of fabric!
I love how you added the flowers! The yellow is a great contrast!
Love the red, black and white together! Nice tablescape! Keep the tablecloth and layer it with a smaller white square tablecloth (placed in a diamond shape) or other colors, or a runner, etc.
Great job!
Katherine
Thank you for commenting on my very first Tablescape Thursday post! I appreciate your encouragement!
Oh Mimi, I loved looking through all your tablescapes. Sooo lovely and creative.
I must get on board with all these tablescape inspirations. And now that I have my new table and a soon-to-be new kitchen... I SURELY WILL!
Mimi,
I love the Red, Black & White color scheme. What a great idea going to Goodwill to look for entertaining pieces. I just might try that today.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and commenting. I hope you will check back, as I am just starting and learning so many new things. I will keep checking in with you too.
Have a great day!

You did a great job! I agree with the others, I like how it looks against your dishes. They look so beautiful layered like that. And the daffodils look so cheerful!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your sweet comments!

I love all your layers, the pop of fabric is just tooo fun. Thanks for popping by... hugs ~lynne~
Love the fabric! Great idea, it's so pretty, Mimi :)
Your post is so pretty and I love a lot of red, black and white together. This is so lovely.
What a beautiful table! I love how the red pops!
i think your table looks great!.....sure beats what we had when we were kids!!

I think the fabric choice was a good one when I saw the dishes. If it's too busy for you as a tablecloth I can see using the material as napkins like you said. I thought it was a very pretty tablescape.
Jane
I think it's kind of funky and fun! My daughter would just love this! Great dishes and centerpiece~ Cindy
Love the great colors, layering and the floral retro fabric.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I appreciate your nice comments.
I love the combination of black, white, and red and the pop of yellow daffodils is perfect!
Kat :)
Love the cloth -- I wonder if it would suit you better if you angled a solid squared cloth in the middle? This coordinates so well with the dishes!
I wanted to stop and thank you for your prayers for my mom. She is very slowly improving and determined to get back to some form of normal. She is truly my hero...so brave.
I like the fabric, but I do see what you mean about it being a bit much in such a large piece. What about making placemats? It really looks pretty with the dishes...maybe if it didn't cover the entire table it wouldn't bother you? You could also try putting a white runner down the middle to break up the pattern a bit. It really is pretty...I wouldn't just make it into napkins!
Sue
You are so funny. Maybe it would look better as a picnic tablecloth w/ red solo plates (and I don't mean that negatively). It's a nice vintagey looking fabric. I like all the red/black/white dishes. Also, the flowers! Happy tablescaping!
Beautiful!! Love the black, red, and white together.
LOVELY table... ADORE the tablecloth!
