Pink Delight

I will be joining Susan of Between Naps On the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Thank you for hosting this fun meme, Susan. Please make sure you stop by BNOTP so you can see other fantastic tables.

Y'all must know, by now, how I feel about the color pink! In case you missed it, pink is my least favorite color. Well, a few weeks ago I found pink dishes at the Goodwill I frequently haunt. A little voice kept whispering "buy me, buy me" and before I could turn and run away, they were in my cart. Actually, I really like them, they are a pretty shade of pink. They are Sasaki (fine china) 'Regency Pink' 1986. There were only 2 each, dinner, salad, soup, cup and saucer, all for just under $5.

My daughter brought me the tulips knowing how much I like the yellow ones...she said she almost bought pink or lavender ones but felt yellow would be a safer color. When I told her I was doing a pink table for this week's post she couldn't believe it. I told her the yellow looks great with all the pink.

Dinner plate.

Salad plate. Today I have chosen not to use the salad plate that is part of the set. I am using plates with my favorite flowers, hydrangeas. These were a gift from my sister, Jerry; Noritake ColorWave Gray.

Rimmed soup bowl.

Cup and saucer.

Flatware, Oneida 'Afterglow' 1956. The pink napkins and tablecloth were from Savers; $1.99 for 4 napkins and $2.99 for the tablecloth.

The water glasses are Noritake Sweet Swirl, lavender and the wine stems are pale pink that I picked up at Savers for 99¢ each quite some time ago.

The vase was found this past weekend at a yard sale. It is a Brush-McCoy 7¼ inch pale aqua made about 1940. The cost was a dollar.

The table with the candles lit...my inexpensive camera seems to distort the pictures with lit candles...maybe I should try a different setting.

***Update! My friend, Kathleen, wanted to know about the pink pedestal cake stand...it was $2.99 at HomeGoods, a few years ago.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog...it is very much appreciated.

Pink is one of my favorite colors and I love this setting - lucky find! They really look awesome with the pink hydrangea salad plate - just gorgeous. You and Kathleen always find the best bargains - our GW charges up to $2.99/plate and you can buy new ones at TJM for 3.99! I haven't found bargain dishes for so long I am going through withdrawal - wish I lived closer so I could go shopping with you :)

I dislike pink as much as you do, yet all of my depression glass (which I inherited from Dad's mother)is PINK. And, I always look for the more unusual pieces in PINK...sad...But, a very pretty table, none the less!!

Its possible we might be twins, I love yellow tulips and am lucky enough that Ken remembers that fact on Valentine's Day and other special occasions! Also hydrangea, a BIG favorite of mine! Both outdoors in my yard and cut for indoors. I just love them - I even have some fake hydrangeas for my winter dining room table. And then there's pink! I've always been a pink girl - our dining room has pink/beige flower stripes and I have a lot of pink accessories. When I was a teen, everything I owned was pink :)

I love this elegant little tablescape. My husband (Patrick) would have loved this. He was so into candle light! Yes, he would have loved it. I wish I had set the table more beautifully and lit candles for him more than I did. Regrets. Ah well...I hope he knows I didn't really think the same back then as I do today. Blogging has made me more aware.
:)
Beautiful job!!

Thanks you for your comment on my post... :) SO nice!

What a gorgeous pink table! I have to admit I'm not a fan of pink items myself but i do have some pink tops because they look good with my complexion. This turned out beautifully and sooo many bargains to boot.
I've never heard of savers, maybe we'll get one soon.
Thanks for visiting me, I don't know how I overlooked it, but I just added you to my blog list.

For someone who's not fond of pink, you did incredibly well with this table! I LOVE those salad plates with the hydrangeas -- just gorgeous. And that pink stemware is great -- and such a bargain!

Hi Mimi. I thought, I am the only person, to whom things whispers "buy me, buy me", but now I realize, that happens to other persons, too. But it was right to do, what they whispered, because it makes a stunning table. But the pink is not just cutie , it looks very elegant. I love it.
Greetings, Johanna

Hi Mimi, It’s so nice to see you went out of your comfort zone and used the color pink. I loved all the plates you used but the hydrangea is my favorite. I'm in love with hydrangeas. I'll have to post some pictures once mine get growing, it'll be a while yet as its still cool here in the east. I love the yellow tulips on your table, the perfect touch to a beautiful tablescape! Thank you for stopping by and viewing my Patriots' Day tablescape and leaving your kind comment. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hello there,

What a serendipitous find, especially when you realized that although you really don't love pink any and all colours can be pretty when arranged artfully!..,

I love the yellow tulips that your daugter gave you as well;great colour combo!

(I also noticed in the post below that you enjoy blue and green; blue is my favorite colour)!

..,Green being the colour of nature in so many instances is just such a wonderful combination with blue; the colour of jewels, flowers and mostly of course, the hue of the sky and water often times..,Love it!..,

Lovely tablescape! I have a bit of pink in my collection as well :)

Is the hydrangea hand-painted on the Noritake plate, or was it manufactured like that? It's lovely.
