No, no, no it isn't a Halloween table!
I found these interesting looking soup/cereal bowls, 74¢ each, a couple weeks ago, thinking they may go with some orange plates I bought a few years ago, but no such luck. I Googled to see if I could find out the pattern. On Replacements, Ltd I found a description, but no photo. I kept Googling and finally found several pages that were in German and discovered the pattern is the one described on Replacement, Ltd., which is, Pasiega, made by Waechtersbach. I couldn't find information on when they were made, but it would be fairly recently as the bottom says they are dishwasher safe! I was hoping to find out what the symbols on the rim of the bowl were and the year(s) the pattern were produced.
I have very few orange dishes, other than my Orange Rooster, a couple Waechsterbach orange peel plates and two, well used, Fire King peach luster Laurel, (1952-1963) salad plates. The dinner plate is a plain black Home Trends, which I believe is sold at WalMart.
I found these two very orange wine stems on e-Bay a few weeks ago and thought they would look great with the rooster plates, so had to get them.
Anyone out there ever seen these symbols or know what they represent?
I ran out and grabbed a handful of daffodils, hoping the centers were "orange" enough to not clash with the dishes. I don't have either an orange or black vase, the only thing I could find with any orange was this whimsical pitcher.

Yes, the symbols mean..send the pink dishes to Kathleen...I am not an orange person, but those will make a wonderful Fall scape with those pretty glasses.

Mimi...I love this wonderful table setting! Those symbols on the bowls are so intriquing. They remind me a little of something I've seen somewhere...wish I knew what they "said." Good for you for tracking down the pattern...that can be hard to do sometimes! Your daffodils are perfect with this tablescape...love it! :-)

What a great job you've done of pulling together lots of different orange items to accent those striking dishes! I love orange, and my everyday dishes include that color.

I know this is not a Halloween tablescape but won't these plate be perfect for one! I love Halloween! This is a lovely table for two. The pitcher works great for the daffodils. OK, I just ck'd. The one symbol that ends with an arrow must be the sagittarius astrological sign. I should know, since I am one.
Great finds at GW. Those plates remind me a bit of the southwest. The Waechsterbach label is good pottery. I recently found some pieces of this at GW. It's heavy and glazed with vibrant colors.
Mimi, this is such an interesting pattern-they almost have a Native American look to them. I'm thinking they would look great on an Indian blanket. They look good with your pretty plates, and that stemware is perfect with them. Love the pitcher your daffs are in! laurie

Mimi, I'm not sure what the symbols represent -- but maybe Google "prehistoric art." Some think the Pasiega cave may be the first art gallery with drawings on the cave walls. This is just a guess, but the two squiggly lines together may be a man and a woman. I'd be interested to know what the three lines represent (something spiritual)? And the other figure could be a tool of some sort. However, I'm shooting from the hip (a dangerous thing to do)!
