Another Thrifty Table

I will be, once again, joining Susan of Between Naps On The Porch this week for Tablescape Thursday. Thank you for hosting my favorite meme, Susan!

To enlarge any photo, just click on it.

I have more blue and white dishes than any others...so here is another blue and white table.

The tablecloth and napkins remind me of spring; blue for the sky, yellow for the sun, green for the leaves and white for my untanned legs!

The lime mums and filler flowers are from my Mother's Day bouquet and the peonies from my garden. The vase is a little white pitcher.

I am using the Blue Tulip by Independence Ironstone dinner plate as the charger plate. While trying to find out anything I could on this pattern, I noted that Replacements, Ltd. has these listed at $21.99 each. I am astounded at the prices of some dishes found in the thrift stores for just pennies! And does anyone actually purchase dishes from Replacements, Ltd.?

Close-up of the tulip pattern.

On top of the charger is blue cameo-ware luncheon plate by Harker Pottery Co. Cameoware is made using a process called intaglio, which is cutting a design into a colored glaze.

Up close view of the cameoware.

Topping the luncheon plate is a white salad bowl, which may be some type of restaurant-ware as they are quite heavy. The back has Classic Oneida in green on it.

Profile...The sterling flatware is Oneida Afterglow 1956.

The stemware is a large crystal ice tea/lemonade and a milk glass wine stem.

Taken last night before I decided the Gerbera daisies were too far gone to look good. I just noticed I got a bonus "blue hour" picture, too!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog, it is always appreciated when you leave a comment, too.

Such a pretty table!! I also have so many blue and white dishes! I agree the prices on Replacement's is crazy! Love those plates, both of them, very unusual!

Once again, a fabulous tablescape. I particularly like this one as I am very fond of plaid. The milk glass goblets remind me of all the milk glass I sold at a garage sale where people walked through my house and found out after that dealers had scarfed up the milk glass. Wish I still had it! I have been leaving my comments here but miss getting an e-mail back from you when I send my comments via e-mail. Love from Vermont, Brenda

I LOVE blue cameoware!!! I found a bunch of it a year ago at a shop in Washington, but didn't have a way to bring it back on the plane with me.

That blue hour picture is amazing! You couldn't have taken a better shot to go with your gorgeous blue tablescape.

I have never heard of Replacements before. You are so lucky that you can get such quality pieces at your thrift stores. Most times the thrift stores over here really don't have a very good selection of things.

Best wishes,
Natasha.

Mimi, It's always a delight to visit! Love the charger and the cameoware!!! Do people actually buy from Replacements.com? Well, I found a good deal there (on ebay)! Guess they wanted to get rid of the item I was purchasing. You're right, though, their prices seem high. But they've been in business a long time so someone is buying. I sure do enjoy their website as it's helped me to identify several pieces of china. Like you, I am a thrifter! Anyway, a nice tablescape. Very pretty color combination!

I love how you layered the blue and white. That combo is always a winner. I also love that tablecloth. I haven't found any plaids yet I like and I keep looking.

Love your plaid tablecloth -- great blue hour picture. I've never seen those pretty blue and white plates -- how pretty they are`

I just love the shape of the Independence ironstone! My mother-in-law used to have the plain white version, and she gave it away. Sigh. And I wonder the same thing about Replacements.com. But I love their website -- you can find ANYTHING there, and they're good about helping identify unknown patterns.

It looks so pretty. I like to check out my thrift finds at Replacements to find out what pattern it might be. There is one thing I order from Replacements and that is pieces of the Fostoria that my Mother in Law gave me. It's not a common pattern and I want to keep the set complete and use it. Your table is just so pretty.

I love your tablescape and especially, the Cameoware. I have a bowl from my grandmother, and have purchased several small plates on eBay. Also have a lovely water pitcher purchased at the Austin Ciy Garage Sale a few years ago. You just never know where you'll find treasure!

You've done a lovely job with all of the blue and whites!
