April in June

I was one of the lucky recipients of Linda from A LA CARTE giveaways for her 60th birthday, coming up in a few days, June 9, to be exact! If you haven't visited her wonderful blog, you should head over there and check it out. I received a beautiful April Cornell market bag with matching tea towels and pot holders. They match my dining room so well...may have to leave them in here permanently! Thank you so much, Linda for drawing my name!

As soon as I get the camera out, A.J. thinks he has to get his photo taken, too! I try to take pictures when he is at the other end of the house.

This morning we went to city-wide garage sales in a town about 25 miles south of here. It was really hot, about 90° and very humid...after about the third stop finding nothing of interest, we finally found a few things. After we got back to town I stopped at the thrift store and found a couple more items.

I will be joining Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures. Thank you for hosting this fun meme, Rhoda.

This cute little amber colored dish was a dollar. I will use it as a vase. I saw a light blue one at another sale, but they must have really liked it as it was $7. I think they will be happy when they take it back inside tonight!

The next few items were found at another house, two candle holders, a 2½ cup green pitcher, 2 china tea cups and two white vessels, of which I am not sure if they are juice glasses or little vases! Anyone out there have a guess as to which they are?

The plain white tea cup and the 3 saucers came from the thrift store. The white saucers are marked Haviland France on the back, the same with the cup.

The other two are English.

I really like the one with the violets...the saucer, of course, doesn't have the same pattern, but I thought it went rather well.

This cute little cabbage server was at one of those houses where nothing is marked, you have to make an offer, which I hate doing as some people get insulted very easily! I offered a dollar, the lady accepted!

At the next to the last house we went to I found 4-9½ inch clear, hexagonal dinner plates made by Arcoroc France. I think the pattern is Marine.

The last place we hit for yard sales I found a small green sugar bowl to match a cream pitcher I have had for years...not exactly a match, other than color and maker, though. It is Franciscan made in California. I have shown both pieces so that you can see the colors are the same. I will do a little research to find out how old the sugar bowl is, which I am sure is newer.

Bottom stamps...the creamer has an o and the sugar has an a underneath Franciscan.

The local thrift store had a few new items they didn't have the other day when I was down there...pretty etched stemware 50¢ each, three china saucers and a teacup, all for a dollar and the little white pails I will use for candles were 25¢.

I spent less than $20 for everything and had a fun time, not counting the hot/humid weather!

Looks like you found quite a bit. I rarely go to garage or yard sales. I never seem to find much. However, I do love to go to thrift stores. I totally forgot to go today. Boo hoo! Oh well, my pocketbook will thank me. Thanks for sharing your loot. And thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment on my paris window.

OMG, what great "finds"! Thanks for sharing those. I love the name of your blog! Whenever my 20 something son goes camping he says' "Bye, Mom; You can find me in the Middle of nowhere." Funny...maybe he's been visiting your blog all along. Sue@awelllovedhome

Those white things look like milk glass. Maybe sundae cups? Of course sangria would look lovely in them too....

Thanks for the suggestion to store plates in my cheese box. It is huge enough I can probably put platters in there. I'm always on the lookout for more dish storage!! You found some great things in the middle of nowhere!! I know about Kansas - sometimes when traveling across it seems like nowhere. It's the same here in Colorado in some places. Sally
