Where Do I Stash Them...

I have decided to join The Tablescaper today for "where do you keep it all" meme. I feel exposed and embarrassed...I am not sure if I should thank you, A, for hosting!

I live in an older house, over one hundred years old...closets are premium real estate, therefore no neat shelves of dishes in the closets. I am only showing the half-way neatest places I stash them...there are others but we will leave that for another day.

3 shelves in the tv armoire Howard modified for dishes.

Industrial strength shelves in what used to be Howard's office.

Glassware cupboard in laundry room.

Most used glassware in the kitchen.

Bottom of hutch...can't show the other side, wayyyyy too messy!

Under the little hutch, napkins, placemats, candles, silver.

Some table linens in the laundry room armoire, the rest are in a dresser.

Sorry about the unorganized mess that surely has assaulted your poor eyes...

Mine should be half so nice...ANYWHERE in the house. My extra dishes are stuffed into the cabinet in the garage with the bundles of pasta, jars fruit, waffle iron, extra cooking equipment, paper products etc. We shop big and stock up so not lots of room out there. Also I have an open cabinet and two hutches...full in the family room. ALL of them over packed and dishes and STUFF piled on top of each other. Thus, I get worn out just looking at all of it and pass on meme's lately. Ah well....there is always next week...I hope.
Yours looks fantastic!! :)

Mona

Not bad! I am lucky to have a closet I know. I am going to get more shelves to organize many totes that are stacked everywhere. You can hid a lot by only taking photos of what you want folks to see...lol. Mine is much messier then I showed. Thanks for sharing.

Lol! Oh I feel soooooooooo much better now. Ha, ha.... To be honest, I haven't got a lot of stuff stashed anymore because with 6 moves within 3 years, I've had a massive cleanout but with my obsession with markets, etsy, op shops and garage sales: give me 6 months & I'll be there again. :)

Don't be embarrassed...you're in GOOD company! I think it all looks quite neat, actually.
The stemware seems to be the most difficult for me to find room. I need to enlist DH's aid & get some shelves like your hubby did for you.

There's a lot of stuff, Mimi, but its very well organized (at least what you have shown us, let's see the rest, LOL). I just wonder if there is room somewhere in the house for Howard's toothbrush? Just curious :)

Hello Mimi,
You've accomplished the impossible by finding so much storage in an older home. Thanks for letting me peek.

Now that's not messy! You look very organized and neat! I grew up in a 100+ year old house so I know the value of closet space in those homes! Love all your glassware, so many colours and styles!

Mimi, I LOVE that armoire with the maps on it. I have an old armoire and am wondering if I could decupouge some maps on it and then use a brown glaze on it. You've turned it into great dish storage. I've used some creative photography often to block out the mess next to what I want to show on my blog! Everything you showed look very neat and organized. laurie

Great stash! I love your armoire! Funny, even with no more place to put things, I always manage to get more stuff and still manage to put it away. Of course only I know my system, anyone else and everything would topple, if they could what they were looking for!

Ha ha... what a prob for us who's a tablescaper.

Love your unorganize treasures. I can't wait to see how you organize them.

Poor me. I put them in a box and damp in the attic... no place to stash them all.

Have a gorgeous TT and a great day.

Mimi, that looks quite familiar for me. You have so many different plates, that makes me very curious for the coming years of tablescape.
Thanks you so much for your visit and your nice comment.

Not bad at all! And those old houses have so much lovely character, who cares about closets anyway? Well, almost! :-) I think the TV armoire is a beautiful piece!

Tammy @BeatriceBanks said...

Forget the organization. I'm just drooling over your beautiful dishes and stemware! Lovely!

Oh I'm not worthy. I only have two sets of white dishes and some brown and white ones, oh and some polka dot but you have every color. My husband thinks I am a "dish whore" oh well I do like setting the table even if I don't like to cook. :) Your table settings are gorgeous. I love all of the pattern and color.
Thanks for stopping by my bridal shower.

It looks impressive and well thought out to me. I need to follow your example ... I focused on the words "industrial strength shelves." I just know one of these nights, I'm going to be awakened by a terrible crash as many shelves of china, crystal, and flatware chests come tumbling down!

Hi Mimi, You are more organized than I, but I understand about being exposed, I didn't join in the party for that very reason. Since I'm new to tablescaping I don't have nearly as much as you, however, I've managed to fill up 4 totes, 2 large and 2 medium size, plus smaller totes with napkin rings, plate holders, etc. I also have things under the couch and in cabinets, too funny. I can't wait to get some strong shelves like you have so I can get everything in one place! Thank you for sharing, where you stash them! And thank you for visiting and leaving your sweet comment on my Garden Delight Table...it really brought me pleasure to design this table with the garden tool centerpiece! I like trying to do unique displays with flowers; however, I don't think the pictures captured the centerpiece as well as I wished. Hosta's make great fillers and I forget that from time to time. Have a wonderful evening!

Kim
