Another Thrifted Table...

It is time for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch. Thank you, Susan, for hosting my favorite meme.

You may enlarge any of the pictures by clicking on it.

I found these dishes at the local ARC Thrift Store awhile back. The china is not old. The stamp on the back says Home Beautiful MA103 Cotillion Fine China; they were made in China. I couldn't find them on the internet, so I know nothing about them. They are white with tiny peach flowers/pale green leaves in a black border with gold around the rim. The set included a dinner, bread/butter plate, soup/salad bowl and saucers, but no cups. I had to scrounge around for 4 white cups!

I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to use rudbeckias with a few white cone flowers or white hydrangeas for the centerpiece. I took photos with each one before the table was completely set. I do like the little bit of color the rudbeckias add but think I prefer the white; they makes for a more monochromatic table. Which do you like think looks the best?

Close up of the border.

This little Red Cliff cream pitcher is one of my favorite finds at Savers. The price was 49¢, but when I got home I discovered I was never charged for it!

I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures this week. This has been the hardest, of any of the tables I have done, to photograph. I don't know if it was me, the camera or that there was so much white. I have a friend that is a professional photographer, so I will ask him if I have the camera set right or if I just need lots more practice.

As I look at the table, everything with the exception of the silverware is from a thrift store...and the hydrangeas, they are from my back yard...finally, this year they did really well and I have lots of blossoms for a small bush.

Thank you, everyone, especially my followers, so much for taking the time to look at my blog each week. I try to visit and comment on each entry on Tablescape Thursday. I feel that if you have taken the time to do a table, you deserve a comment, however short it may be. I hope to see you here next week.

Beautiful table. I like the monochromatic look the best. So the white flowers get my vote. Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog & comment. I know so few people do nowadays. So those that do, I really appreciate as I know you do as well.

I think this is one gorgeous table! Very elegant and the white hydrangeas are my favorite - but they would be my favorite on any table anywhere to tell you the truth, but I do think they look especially beautiful on this table - I love it all!

Love these dishes! They look so pretty on the table. Both flowers are so nice but the White is the winner for me. More elegant and the height just adds to the drama of the table. Yep Gorgeous!

I like both sets of flowers, although the yellow ones could have been in a taller vase, maybe?? The white makes it very stunning, the yellow makes it fun!

How elegant! The hydrangeas really make this table. Beautiful dishes. Love the dark napkins, too.

I love the plates! Very elegant with the white hydrangeas, and the rudbeckias are a more casual look. I like both!!

Mimi, I love the white. You not only have a gift for tablescapes, but you do a wonderful job with the flowers in all of your settings. I should know because I am a florist!!!

Great tablescape! Why do I never find such wonderful things at thrift shops. Probably because we don't have a thrift shop unless Goodwill and Salvation Army count.

Best,

Your table is beautiful!!! I hear what you are saying about photographing white, AND I think your table is elegant... I like the white flowers best, they have a lacy look that adds a more sophisticated look to the table... I DO like the others though for a less formal look... either way it's gorgeous...Donna

Beautiful table, Mimi. Are those lime light hydrangea? My hydrangeas are doing great this year. Love that monochromatic theme.

Mimi,
what a find is this china set. You did perfect to add the white cups. I wouldn't have realized that they are not origin to this set. The beautiful border of that china allows a lot of color combinations. So I cannot decide which flowers I like best to it. I think it depends on the occassion. The white ones look for my sense more festive, the yellow ones more happy. Anyway, you made again a very pretty table. Thank you for sharing this.
Greetings, Johanna

What a find! Those dishes are so pretty! I like the monochromatic look the best, even though I used rudbeckias this week. A camera makes a reading of middle gray so when photographing something that is mainly white, the camera reads it as gray. To compensate, you need to overexpose the photo by one or two stops. I wouldn't worry about that too much though. Your photographs really showed off your lovely table.

Mimi, the black and white color scheme looks so elegant! Love those dishes, and I think the white hydrangeas add the perfect touch. Thank you for your kind comments on my table this week!

Your table is very elegant. I definitely prefer the white hydrangeas because they seem a little more formal and the white is perfect with the china! I am following you to see what else you do! Linda

Well, you're amazing. You put that whole thing together from a thrift store?? To me, penny pincher that I am, that makes it all the more lovely.

I like both centerpieces, but I'm with you in that the white is the more "perfect" of the two.

This is a beautifully romantic table. Your china is so beautiful. I see everyone taking pictures with candlelight and haven't tried that yet, it is so pretty on your table. I did finally try twilight shots this week for Summer Sundays and was successful so candle light should be next on the list.

Mimi, this tablescape is so pretty. That china was a great find. Isn't it amazing how, with the tall vase of hydrangeas, the table looks so formal, and just the change in flowers gives it a more informal look. This is a great lesson in the power of a centerpiece. Your Red Cliff pitcher is so sweet, and you can't get a better deal than that! laurie

What BEAUTIFUL china, Mimi!! Outstanding table in its simplicity & style. I ♥ your white hydrangeas!

I, too, find white to be especially difficult to photograph. Be sure to tell us what your friend advises, okay? I'm so new to photographing tables & things, I drink in every tip I can get.
