It is almost time to make my weekly pilgrimage to Between Naps On The Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Many thanks to Susan for hosting my favorite meme.
The inspiration for the table this week was this gorgeous green and white tablecloth...actually, anything green could be my inspiration, as it is my favorite color. To enlarge any picture, just click on it.
Dinner plates are Royal Wessex England, with a pretty ivy border. I haven't been able to positively identify the pattern name, but found an e-Bay seller calling them Verdigris Churchill and another Verdigris English Ivy. It really doesn't matter, I like them!
The plain white luncheon plates are unmarked; they appear to be quite old. They have a pretty border with reeds, flowers and pheasants.
The apple green salad plates are part of Waechtersbach's The Fun Factory series.
The green/white/gold dessert plate is Wood & Son Glenwood, which is a favorite of mine.
Plain white coupe soup bowls with a slightly scalloped rim are unmarked. I was told they were probably made by Homer Laughlin, but don't know for sure.
The flatware is the same pattern my parents received as a wedding gift in 1945. It is Rogers/International Gracious, circa 1939. Unfortunately, it wasn't my parents, theirs was destroyed in a house fire almost 40 years ago. I was excited to find the service for 12 on e-Bay recently. A few of the pieces were missing...but it did include grill forks, grill knives, teaspoons, oval soup spoons, round/cream soup spoons, large serving spoons, but nary a salad fork to be seen!
The glassware is crystal found at the thrift store. The maker and pattern are unknown to me, so if anyone has an idea, let me know, please.

I hemmed and hawed about using white hydrangea for the centerpiece. I ended up with just some pothos and Swedish Ivy wrapped around a metal plant pyramid painted green, flanked by white candles in green wooden candlesticks.
I love all the layering!

This is so pretty! I love Green also and you have just layered this until it is perfection! One of your best tables ever! Love the ivy also, it just picks up the greens and compliments them without taking away from them.

Another gorgeous tablescape. Our friend, Lisa, is here from London where she lives part of the year with her English husband (she is American). Bob built their huge addition a couple of years ago and is putting in stone steps for them on their very old house now. She showed me some pix the other day and one was a table setting that could have been in your tablescape program. It was gorgeous....black and white. Black and white check napkins, white flowers and I think the tablecloth was black. I told her about your beautiful tablescapes and she is going to look at the blog next time she is here. She doesn't have dsl computer here in Windham like I do so you can't send to her but when she goes back to England, you could send it there. Love, Brenda

Yes, I DID enjoy your green and white table -- very much! It's great that you found silverware to replace your parents'! I know what you mean about older sets often not including salad forks. I don't think people were big on salads in the 1930s and 40s (congealed salads on the dinner plate perhaps). But what did they use when they ate cake? ;)

Ivy is always a very decorative pattern. Such a luck that you have fount the flatware like your parents owned. How sad that there household got destroyed by fire and so many memories are gone. LOVE it all. I think your soup bowl is restaurant ware by Homer Laughlin; it's what my Mother had SCADS of and used for family dining -- it's so tough and strong, and also beautiful.
I remember being very young, and going with my mother to the restaurant supply house, where she would charm the manager into selling the restaurant china to her in small lots; it was a trade-only place, but she managed to come home each time with more of that white china!
