Another week has passed and it is time for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch. Thank you for hosting each week, Susan.

The inspiration this week came from the colors my nephew frequently wore. As most of you know, Jeremy passed away last month at the young age of 38. Today (Nov. 9th) would have been his 39th birthday; it is also the 15th anniversary of my dad's death. Both my dad and nephew were sports fanatics, didn't matter what the sport was, as long as it was a sport they were happy. I miss you both and think of you every day.
I had everything I needed for the table, except flowers. I ran down to the flower shop hoping for some white roses but all they had were the dark red ones, which didn't look good with the bright red plates...but they did have two Gerbera daisies which I have put in milk glass bud vases. Monday isn't a good day to hit the florist in my little town, they are out of most everything.
The plain red charger plate is actually a large Waechtersbach dinner plate with a white Alfred Meakin dinner plate follwed by the very popular Royal Stafford black and white transferware salad plates found at TJMaxx and finally a red soup bowl. The soup bowl has no markings on it. The only pilsners I own have an etched two-masted ship on one side and seagulls on the other. The small water glasses are black Hazel Atlas...but Dad and Jeremy probably would rather have a beer, which would be served from the Westmoreland Paneled Grape pitcher. I have used a small soup tureen to serve the clam chowder my dad was famous for.

Beautiful table, Mimi, and a loving tribute to Jeremy and your father. The Gerbera daisies go so perfectly with the pretty dishes and I love the soup tureen {I recently broke down and bought one...clam chowder sounds good!}.

This is one of my favorite combinations, Mimi! I love how red, white and black look together. The red and black gives the transferware gives it just the right 'punch'.
Happy Birthday, Jeremy. RIP. It's funny how deaths and births seem to run in families. What a coincidence that this is also the anniversary of your father's death. I hope you think of all the happy memories of both of them today!
This is one of my favorite combinations! I just love black and white combinations and then the red just makes everything pop! I am actually participating in a table setting display and am going to use this color combo so I am excited to gleam ideas from yours.

I really love this table. The colors are so classic and the way you layered the plates is perfect. I love Gerber Daisy's so this make sit even better. Such a wonderful tribute to Jeremy and your Dad. The lit candles make for a cozy table!! The pattern of the black and white plate with the contrast of the red plates are stunning- beautiful!

The black, white and red is really beautiful together! A nice tribute to your nephew and your father. Did I understand that your father died on Jeremy's birthday? So sad. My beloved grandmother died the day before my birthday. I was so glad it wasn't right on my birthday.
