This week's inspiration came from another soup tureen found at the thrift store. It was $4.99 at Savers a few months ago. I have been itching to show you this whimsical piece, but didn't have the color tablecloth I wanted. Have you ever tried to find napkins and tablecloths in gray? I found the tablecloth, finally, but not really the shade and of course, no napkins, yet...
It's a clam shell tureen! Probably someone's ceramic project, but I couldn't resist buying it.

Little shell knob
The interior is pink!
I used white dishes, some have a grayish wash on the borders.
The dinner plate, which is actually a salad plate is from TJMaxx, it just has a B in a shield on the bottom.
The salad plate is from Pier One.
.
The rice bowl is American Atelier Athena, but I use them for soup or chili.
Smokey gray glassware.
I have used a white damask napkin. You have seen the flatware several times.
Thank you for visiting today. I hope you will return again.
I may be missing for a few weeks. My husband is going to be having pituitary adenoma surgery within the next couple weeks...we are waiting on another pre-op test to be done and then the date will be scheduled.

Hi Marigene!
How unusual! I love that it is pink inside... it would be so pretty with steaming homemade clam chowder inside. Pink napkins would also look lovely...

Wow! That is great! Perfect for clam chowder.
Love those bowls too!
I was just thinking of ordering gray napkins so i could do a black and gray table.
Of course dh will be in my prayers!
I think you need to rustle up a big pot of clam chowder! What a pretty and unusual tureen! Love the soft gray and white table.
Sending very best wishes to your husband - keep in touch!
That is such a cute tureen. For clam chowder I assume. Hope all goes well with the surgery and he is feeling better quickly.
I will say a prayer concerning the surgery.
That soup tureen is a wonderful find.
Love the white dishes as well. They have beautiful rims.
First - hope all goes well with his surgery! I will be thinking of you!
Next your tureen is just incredible! What a great shape. I thought the interior was a strawberry soup until you said it was that color. Isn't that the funnest thing? I love the layers of texture in your plates! Can you believe we used to just have plain old white plates - there are so many fun ones now!
I can't say I've ever seen a tureen quite like that one! I really like gray these days...if I were painting the inside of my house I might get rid of the taupe for gray. It looks wonderful with the white dishes.
I hope things go well for you husband. I'll keep him in my prayers.
Love the tureen, so unique, Marigene. You put together a really nice tablescape with the beautiful plates....Christine
Oh wow, it looks like an oyster shell, what a great tureen! Your table is gorgeous with such lovely dishes in white. Hope you had a nice Valentine's!

What a lovely tablescape! That is s delightful tureen! Hope all is well with your husband.
That dinner plate is beautiful and reminds me of the white glazed black pottery from France that is so popular now and very pricey. Yours is just as lovely. Great combination on your pretty table.
I am always glad to see you! I will keep you and your family in my thoughts, and I certainly home everything goes well with the surgery.
I'm rooting for your husband, Marigene!!! I hope he's able to be back up and dancing in no time! (If he didn't dance before the surgery, it should come as a very pleasant surprise post-op!) :-) Meanwhile, enjoy your fun new "toy"...that is really a cool tureen! Clam chowder or boullibaisse would look great in it! Have a good weekend, Marigene, and you two hang in there!
Sending wishes and prayers for your husband's speedy recovery.
Very cute tureen. The pink interior will add a nice contrast to the white chowder. Love love love the embossed dinnerware pieces.

Love that tureen-what did you fill it with?
Hi Marigene, Thank you for the good wishes for my hubby's upcoming operation and my prayers and thoughts to you for yours, too. I haven't looked for gray napkins but I suppose it would be difficult! I do think your table is so pretty and the tureen is wonderful! Linda
*Knee-mails* being sent for a complete & easy recovery for your husband, Marigene. The do things so minimally invasive now with a fully endoscopic approach that he should be home quickly.
Your tureen is cute & would be PERFECT for serving shrimp etouffee or seafood alfredo, too. I have a wickedly good recipe for that...I should do a post next time I make it!
Warm Hugs,
Rett
I hope all is going well with your husband! Sending prayers your way.
