Enjoying Spring

We have been enjoying beautiful sunny, warm weather the past few days...but it is to turn wintery again Thursday, with the possibility of a little sleet and snow mix. I have a feeling we are going to have a short spring and just jump headlong into summer!

This week the inspiration came by way of this cheery blue, yellow, white and green cotton tablecloth. The background is like a blue sky. The tablecloth was a recent purchase at Savers, $4.99 less 30%, so I got it for $3.49.

The napkins are yellow linen held with a white ceramic napkin ring.

The stack of dishes begins with an oversized yellow dinner plate that is used as a charger; the maker is MSE, which I have learned is Martha Stewart! The next layer is a Johnson Brothers Snowhite Regency dinner plate, on top of that is a blue Varages dessert/salad plate and lastly Copeland Spode Valencia cream soup bowl  which also has a basketweave pattern. The cream soup will be used for the salad today.

The glassware are both yellow, a Noritake Provincial and an Indiana Glass Kings Crown small wine.

The flatware is by Gibson an bought at Goodwill last year.

The centerpiece is a vintage blue hen, most of the red has worn off the comb, then hen itself is glazed...looks like the comb was an afterthought! It is just sitting on a small yellow pedestal plate flanked by a pair of white ceramic candlesticks.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today. Come back next time...please!

The candlesticks in the background of the first picture will be featured in next week's tablescape...

This is such a great color combination, Marigene...one of your prettiest tables ever! Love the tablecloth and your flatware is so charming! I can tell you put a lot of time in this.

I have been hearing about snow in our area, too. Very strange. Thank goodness I haven't planted any flowers!

Jane

Marigene, every time you show us that GORGEOUS Valencia, I go to Replacements.com to see all the pieces and wonder how I can get my own set. It is just a stunning pattern! It was discontinued the same year I married, so I guess that's why I didn't see it when choosing my patterns. Otherwise, it would have been THE pattern for me! The lovely yellow glassware is perfect for this table -- so pretty!

Ooh Marigene, I love the blue and yellow this week. All your dishes look so pretty together on the new tablecloth. We're supposed to get record low temps tomorrow in Texas. Crazy Spring, huh?
p.s. I look forward to seeing what you do with the twisty candlesticks next week.

I didn't know MSE was a Martha Stewart brand, either! Hmmmm...learn something new every doggone day out here!

I hope the sunshiny nature of your table will coax Mother Nature into cutting us some slack. It's not looking good. Did you see that weird look in the sky around 7:05 tonight? Freaked me out!!!!

I'm anxious to see what you do with those cool turned wood candlesticks. Yes...I noticed them right off the bat even though they were waaaaay back there in the back trying to look inconspicuous! :-)

Marigene, I can't image facing more snow the first of May. I wish I could send you some of our perfect spring days. That said, your blue and yellow will keep you smiling. This is a charming table. Your dish stack is delightful.

My favorite color combination! The dinner plate is glorious, and everything played well with you wonderful new tablecloth. About the game dinnner...the hosts each prepared several wild game entrees to serve at least 25...most prepared more. I made Brandy Ice for 120, and one of the hosts made that immense salad. Not a fund raiser...just a great big fun party. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

Hi Marigene, I sincerely hope you don't get snow! I can't imagine more snow this year. I'm happy to have some warm weather this week so the flowers can start to bloom. Your blue and yellow table is so pretty and springlike! I think MSE is Martha Stewart Everyday--you always find the best deals! Linda

I think that a yellow and blue color combination is one of my most favorites. I love your goblets and the soup bowls, especially.

Snow...again? Goodness...this is one long winter. Hope it's just a tall story.

I'm glad spring has come your way. Houston has had a marvelous season. Would you believe the next couple of nights the temperature is going to be in the 40's, highly unusual for this time of year. Anyway, love your table. There seem to be lots of new things here. I would have pushed you aside to get the flatware.

Pretty table decked in yellow and blue! Love that cloth, so very springy! We've had some lovely days but looks like more rain. Hopefully it will bring us more flowers! The flatware is perfect with this table also. You always have such pretty tables!

Enjoy your lovely tablescape.

That tablecloth is just darling. I can't believe that you got it so cheaply. A paper tablecloth would have cost more than that. Nice job! I love the color combination.

I am finally feeling good enough to use the computer. I remember when it snowed on my grandfather's birthday on May 5th many years ago. I wish I could send you some of our perfect spring days. The blue and yellow certainly brought sunshine to the table.

I am not sure where to start, because I really like this table. Your yellow stemware is so pretty. I have a big hole in my stemware collection by not having some nice yellow glasses. I have been waiting to find water goblets to match some Fostoria sherbets that I already have. Recently, some appeared on eBay and I lost the bid. I was broken-hearted. Oh well! Love your pretty cream soups and all of the other tableware!
