Another Vera Neumann!

A few weeks ago, my friend Lynne sent me a beautiful Vera tablecloth set. She said she had bought it at a thrift stores years ago and had thought to make a dress for her granddaughter, but decided it would be a waste...Thank you again, Lynne!

I had a couple ideas how I would use this, but ended up with something totally different than where I was headed. Next time I will use dishes to pull the brick red and blue from the fabric.

The place setting begins with woven chargers, to which I have layered an over-sized dinner plate as a charger. The next layers are a white dinner plate, gold salad plate, white saucer and a cream soup bowl.

The flatware is, once again, Oneida Louisiana. I really, really like this set...like you couldn't figure that out!

The glassware is an amber Colony Whitehall  iced tea.

I forgot to get flowers for the centerpiece when I was out doing errand, so I am just using a yellow ceramic bread basket!

Thanks for taking the time to visit today...I really appreciate each comment left. Do come back the next time.

Love the warm gold colors....it's been so cold this winter that anything looking/feeling warm is welcome!
Love you,

I am sooooo glad your friend did not cut this lovely tablecloth. Yes, it would have been a waste. I love the rich colors and you surely nailed the interpretation. Love you stack and I hate that I got rid of my Whitehall amber many years ago.
Everything is beautiful as usual,
Blessings, Ginger

I was just thinking...this table cloth could be used many ways using different color schemes. It will be interesting to see future settings. Love the yellow ceremic bread basket. I can almost smell your homemade rolls/bread in it. As always, Have A Great Day! Sue Z.

What a gorgeous tablecloth, Marigene! I love the colors you've chosen to show it off this week, but I'm intrigued to see how you use it with blue and dark red, too!

Marigene,
Just when I say to myself, "This is the prettiest tablescape you've done!" You do another prettiest tablescape you've ever done!!! I LOVE all the golden hues throughout this table!!! Instead of flowers, my thought would be a loaf of crusty French Bread in your basket!!!
Fondly,
Pat

What a gorgeous table and tablecloth! (& what a good friend!). Love the colors you used, and would love to see the red and blue highlighted also. It's amazing how different a table can look with the same tablecloth. Wow, I covet your lovely amber glasses. You really know how to stack plates. :) Pam

What a wonderful tablescape you've done here. I love the golden tones. The tablecloth has almost an asian feel to it with the blue and dark red flowers. Kind of Imperial looking.

I love the stack of dishes and the complementary edges of the plates.

Wonderful.

I love, well, EVERYTHING! What a fantastic set. I am so glad that it wasn't turned into a dress. As cute as that may have been, this will get much more use and exposure. I kept trying to focus on what I liked best here, but I love it all. I can't wait to see what other table settings that you come up with using this lovely set of linens.

First, Marigene, I am bummed that I am no longer getting email alerts when you post! :-( I don't know why not. It says that I am still a subscriber via the Google thing. Do you know if there's another way I can subscribe? I'm really just bummed!!!

On to the table: You TOTALLY went the right direction with this. It is fabulous in so many ways, although...I'd be interested in seeing what the other direction was, too! There's always more than one way to skin a cat, they say!

The charger is the perfect texture to play off of the tablecloth. Studying the pattern of the tablecloth reveals a lot of great pattern and color beyond what is visible at a glance. Bringing out those gold tones lends a richness to the table setting.

Home run+!!! Glad to know you've been enjoying this brief respite from the frigid temps...'cause you KNOW it's comin' this way again in a day or so! :-( Stay warm, my in-the-middle-of-nowhere sister! :-)

What a wonderful gift from your friend, Marigene. It's a good thing she saved it from scissors and you could set a pretty table with it. Your choice of dishes is perfect and the glassware goes great with it. I vote for Kathleen's idea in filling up the bread basket with your rolls!

I'm so happy your friend decided to send this beautiful cloth to you instead of cutting it up. Love the colors, Marigene, and the way you have combined textures to make such a lovely table.

That tablecloth is gorgeous! Looks like it could be an Hermes scarf! Good thing your friend decided not to cut it up; you will be able to do many different table settings with this. Love your flatware too.

You forgot to buy the flowers for the centerpiece. I so love that...sometimes, even when I buy the flowers, they never get on the table because I mess around doing other things until it's too late. Then the flowers just sit sadly in their little bucket in the garage, by the kitchen door. The tablecloth is a jewel, and your tablescape is gorgeous. I'll be eager to see the version that features the blue and red, too. I'm so glad to finally have a spot of time, post Sweet Mister's knee replacement surgery, to sit and visit some of my favorite blogs on this cold winter afternoon. Cherry Kay
