This is my first time posting on Three or More hosted by Tam at The Gypsy's Corner. Thank you, Tam, for being our hostess.
I decided to make a pie many years ago and found that I couldn't find my rolling pin, so I had to go out and find one. I hate breaking in an unused rolling pin, the dough sticks to it. After that, every time I went to an estate sale I would buy one...what does a girl do with more than one? She finds an old metal picnic basket and stands them on end. I now use the big fat one on the table that a friend gave me for my birthday a few years ago.
My intent was to buy only green handled rolling pins, but they were fairly scarce so I started picking up plain, red, yellow and even a pale blue handled one. Some are narrow, some fat, some long, some short, some embossed with designs, some with grooves...but they are all round!

I love this. It is something I have wanted to do. I have one I use and, I believe, 3 others, but they are packed away somewhere in a box. I must find a place to display them.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Very cool looking collection, Marigene! I love how you have them displayed in the picnic basket! Bet those pins have some history :)
Good looking collection cleverly displayed!

This is fantastic! they look so good all snuggled into the picnic box. What a great collection -- and what a lovely and evocative display, celebrating the art of baking!

Wow what a charming collection for Three Or More Tuesday..,
Please feel most welcome to pop by and say hello sometime at my The Plumed Pen blog; (you can find the link either through Silken Purse blog, or the links list of my other blogs).~ Perhaps you'd enjoy to also take a wee peek at our,Tuesday Tea For Two blog party.., I realize it's too late for you to post today, yet I thought you might enjoy the pictures nonetheless; just as I have similarly enjoyed your rolling pins!
Cheers form Silken Purse
Awesome...they look totally cool in that tin! Would love to have something similar in my kitchen. My gram made pies all the time, I never acquired the skill of making them though...just eating them :o)
peace.
What a neat collection and I really love how you have them displayed. You can just imagine the years of loving use in them and wonder if "rolling pins could talk" the stories they would tell. I enjoyed seeing them, thanks for sharing!
My gosh...what great collection and I love the way you have them displayed! I started collecting too...but as usual got diverted to other things. I have so many interested in so many directions that I forget to look! Such a sweet country look!
Thank you so much for your comment and encouragement! :) I appreciate you stopping by so much!!

Oh my gooooodness! What a totally wonderful collection. i would never have thought to stand all those little beauties right up there like that. So clever! I adore your collection.
We do have a restaurant supply not too far from us. I looked at their website and couldn't find anything. I think I'll pop in the next time I've that way. I just about fainted when I read 320 dollars! I wrote back to her and they're reviewing the charge. Holy moly....I could DRIVE there and pick the darn thing up cheaper than that! :-)
Hugs,
Spencer
What a great collection! I like the red-handled ones :)
