I will join Leigh of Tales From Bloggeritaville for Thrifty Thursday. Please stop by to see what everyone else has found to be thrifty. Thanks for hosting, Leigh.
I have been suffering a nasty winter cold, so haven't been out haunting the thrift shops too much lately. I did go to Goodwill and a small church thrift shop the other day. The last few times out there just doesn't seem to be a big variety of dishes, which is what I look for, mainly. I don't know if it is the time of year or if more people are looking for them, too. It probably is a good sign that I have enough as I am running out of storage space.
At Goodwill, I did find 3 creamy white soup bowls (49¢ each) to go with the set of dishes I used here, a small basket (49¢), and a little chalkboard (99¢). The church thrift is very small, but I did find 6 nice little eared bowls ($2.50 for the set) and a couple sunflower napkins (25¢ each). The bowls are just right for soup at lunchtime. They are gold rimmed with little flowers inside the bowl and are marked Bavaria Germany of the bottom. They remind me of vintage cream soup bowls, but don't have the handles.
The silver is some I picked up last week at Goodwill. I tried not to match any of it, other than 4 soup spoons that, unfortunately, weren't in this picture. The vaseline glass spooner is from my small collection...not a thrifty deal!

So much fun to shop for treasures! I really like the creamy white bowls you found! And that green vaseline spooner is gorgeous! Do you collect Vaseline?
Your bowls are fabulous and I love the mixed silver. That is how I like to collect it!
Have a wonderful day!

The bowls are so pretty, M! Pretty silver! and the spooner! Michael Chiarello used to sell hotel silverware by the pound on Napastyle.com, not sure if he still does, but it didn't match! I love mixed silver!
Just the right time of year to find such great soup bowls. Really like your silver in the green spooner.
Well, still seems you made out OK, even if they were small sales!
I like the little soup bowls, they look like they are very delicate. The sunflower napkins are nice, they would make a great pillow.

The small bowls look like Haviland to me, and some of it says Bavaria, so I wonder if they are Haviland.
Nice finds. I really like the spooner.
Mimi, here is a link to a blog post I did about some little Haviland plates I have. Your dishes reminded me of the ones in this post, and that's why I wondered if yours are also Haviland. See what you think.
