Satsuma Or Whatever You Want To Call It!
I will be joining all the other 'scapers' this week at Between Naps On The Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Thank you for hosting, Susan.
I will also be joining Smiling Sally for Blue Monday. I don't often have very much blue to share. Thank you for hosting, Sally.

This week I am doing another blue and white table. My little sister, Judy, sent me a large box filled with Satsuma made by Myott & Sons, England.
This pattern has been know by many names, Blue Howo, Flying Turkey, Blue Phoenix, Flying Phoenix, Twin, Phoenix, Flying Dragon and Phoenix Bird. Judy has been collecting the Blue Phoenix pattern for several years for her daughter and herself. I have read that the Satsuma pattern lacks the deep blue coloring of the Japanese originals.
Placesetting.
Layers include the Satsuma dinner plate, an Alfred Meakin luncheon plate, a Bordallo/Pinheiro salad plate and the Satsuma soup bowl.
Dinner plate.
Salad plate.
Soup bowl.
The water glass is Libby Sirrus and I don't know the maker or pattern of the wine stem.
I am not sure if this piece is a butter or cheese dish. The dome broke during shipping, even though it was all bubble-wrapped, but I glued it together.
I used the large platter as the base for the candle holder. There was a smaller platter but that, too, arrived broken, unfortunately.
Overall of the table.
Does anyone collect any of these patterns?
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and leave a comment. It is very much appreciated. Hope to see you back here next week.
Added after I posted...thank you all for your opinions to my Questions, Questions, Questions post of Sept. 26. I appreciate all the input and will be looking at comments in a different light from now on.

Very pretty Marigene, it even matches your curtains.
Marigene those are some very pretty dishes! I love how you layered with the blue plates. So nice of your sister to send them to you. The post office isn't careful I don't care how many times you write Fragile on something! At least most of it made it there unbroken!
Absolutely fabulous tablescape. Tuesdays are the highlight of my week when I get your tablescape. I will ask Claire what she collects because it is something like this or is this. Love, Brenda
Oh, really liked the blue setting. It would really brighten up a winter day, only it isn't winter!!!

What a pretty blue color. And it matches that Bordallo/Pinheiro perfectly. What a great sister to send them to you.
Those are very pretty! Love then with the Pinhiero. A table just for Carol, the blue and white lady.
It looks lovely! That is a shame some broke. Love the butter dish!

These dishes are such a beautiful pattern! And of course, blue and white is a love of mine! Everything just looks so crisp and clean on this table!
I had seen what I "think" is that pattern, but I didn't know what it was called. It's really a beautiful one. I just love the intricate detail! I'm so sorry that some of yours got broken in shipping. Hrmph.
Regardless, it's beautiful and makes a stunning table. I'm SO FOND of blue and white. It's hard to beat it, IMO.
Lovely!!
Your china is lovely. It really looks great with your blue goblets. Nicely done.
Hugs, Beth
What amazing dishes, how wonderful for your sister to send them. Each pattern is so unique and compliments the other. What a lovely table!
Thanks for stopping by. I wish my table decorations were marzipan - but then the plates would be empty!
Blue and white always make my heart beat faster! What a delightful pattern -- thanks for sharing information about it. I really love those ribbed blue glasses, too.
These dishes are wonderful. I love the pattern in them. The solid blue sandwiched in between them makes the pattern really pop. Beautiful.
Marigene -- the blue and white dishes are fab! I am so sorry that a few things, including that lovely covered item got broke...I hate broken lovelies! I would have glued it too. What a lovely gift from your sister. I love the crispness of blue and white. Joni
Very pretty...I don't have much blue myself, but this is really lovely!!!
What pretty blues you have. I hate it when something gets broken in shipping -- I think they must throw boxes across the room or something! Geeze!
What a beautiful set. I love how you match it with the Bordallo/Pinheiro. Such vibrant blues!

Hi Mimi,
That is a beautiful table. I love the colors together, blue and white. Your dishes are beautiful and I love how you layered them.
Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.
Such beautiful blues. I can't imagine anything being more deeply hued than these. I love the dome the best, so glad you could glue it back together and be able to use it for this table.
No, I haven't collected Satsuma....yet. This is gorgeous; I'm going to have do some research on this pattern. Lovely tablescape. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
Wow... everything's gorgeous.
I love your cutlery the most. Hope to grab a set of 6, is ok for me §;-)
Hope your enjoying your week.
Happy TS Day,

Hi Mimi, Wow your dinner plates are a knock out. The whole blue table is just lovely. I don't do blue often but I do love to see it. The first 20 years of married life I had a blue home. Funny how our tastes change and then we need all new china and decor. Isn't that fun? This is my red phase.

That's a beautiful pattern. All so pretty.Blue always brightens my day.
Such a beautiful tablescape! I love these blue and white dishes. You are so lucky to have received such a lovely gift. You table is so elegant yet it would be most inviting for any occasion. I collect "Blue Onion". Hopefully I can post it in the future. Thank you so much for your recent response to me. In part, your nudge has pushed me over the cliff. I now have my first blog post in draft. My page is very dull thus far. If I may ask a question, how do you get beautiful templates similar to the one you have and how do you get the option of enlarging pics by clicking? I am using a template from Eblog and the choices are very limited., my pics are small and I don't see a way to add different colored phrases or words. I am so sorry, I know you are not my blog instructor but those two tips would be most helpful. Sincerely, Ginger
I love it!! Next to purple, blue is my favorite!! I like the swirly pattern, too!! :)
Gorgeous blue plates!!!! I have never seen this pattern before.

I'm so far behind in visiting blogs - have spent the last two hours catching up!!
Totally adore your blue dishes 0 wish I had the opportunity to set a fantastic table the way you "scapers" do - you make it look so easy!! (and I know it's not)
Marigene, I makes me smile that your sister shares your interest in dishes ;-) I love how you match it with the Bordallo/Pinheiro.
