Gold On Black

Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch is once again upon us. Thank you, Susan, for hosting this meme that gives us all so much inspiration.

You can enlarge any photo just by clicking on it.

Inspiration this week came from a tablecloth found at Savers. It is a fairly heavy material in black with a gold repetitive pattern and fringe. Something about it caught my eye immediately, plus I had just the right dishes to go with it, too!

I bought the pear shaped soup bowls at the end of summer, but didn't have a clue what I would use them with, so they have been sitting on the shelf just waiting to make their debut. They were the perfect color for this table.

A very simple place setting of dinner, salad plates and a soup bowl were enough with this tablecloth.

The short stack!

The glassware is made by Indiana Glass; the pattern is Diamond Point, which was introduced in 1965 and continued through the 1980's. Amber was one of the many colors this pattern came in.

The table with the late morning sun shining in.

The centerpiece.

Very pretty, Marigene! The tablecloth is just lovely and it goes perfectly with the dishes and the glasses! Such a pretty table!

I'm beginning to see a pattern, Marigene. Love your rich tones. You must be like me and prefer the darker colors (Fallish) over the pastels of Spring. I did, however, buy my first 'useless little plates' with a bunny right in the way. Oh - this terrible bug that has bitten me!

Hope I can soon join in on the tablescapes.

I really love this tablescape. Although I've started collecting a little more white (ironstone) for my dining room, my absolute favorites are still the rich tones and the black and gold combo. My kitchen is painted a tannish/gold color and accented with black. I decorated it when we moved here 9 yrs. ago and I still haven't grown tired of it.
Have a great day.

I have seen similar goblets both online and in our antique mall, and I would love to have some. I love that diamond pattern on them.

The whole table is really different and really pretty. Love the way you used those pear plates.

I am loving your pear bowls.....so unique and the color could not be more perfect with the tablecloth and your other plates. It is a table setting that is creative and a surprise for your guests to be treated to something so special.

I'm not putting my post up until morning, but I think I did the "less classy" version of your table. Yours is so elegant and gorgeous...mine is simple and dressed down this week. I did however use black, gold and pears!

Well, I'd say that you found the perfect tablecloth to go with your dishes. This has been a really helpful tablescape for me. I have a set of Luneville, Louis XV Honey dishes, and I am inspired by your use of the black with the honey colors. I've always ended up just using mine during the fall...now you've given me a great idea to incorporate them for a spring setting. Thank you for sharing your lovely design and for stopping by my post. Hi Marigene!

Your gold and black table looks so classic and elegant! I would not have thought of using those colors this time of year, so it's neat that we don't all think alike, huh? What a dull world it would be. I love your tablecloth; it reminds me of the classic laurel wreath patterns that you see on molding in historic homes and buildings, and historic fabrics as well. The fringe really adds a nice touch. And I really love your pear shaped bowls and amber glasses. This table made such an impact.

Thanks for your kind comments on my "Juliet" table two weeks ago. I've been sick with a cold, but am already planning my tablescape for next Thursday. Hope you'll get a chance to stop by for a look.

Howdy, Marigene! I tell you...that table linen pattern is beautiful! It reminds me of a table one might see in King ARthur's Court for some odd reason! Did they even use tablecloths back then? Anyway, it's gorgeous. You really kept the good eye out to match it up with those cool pear plates! I hope you're having a good week. Have a great weekend and party hard for Mardi Gras!!! See you soon!

This is such an elegant table. I am slowly learning this process and have only attempted more informal looks, so this is a nice tutorial on how to create a more upscale table!

You asked on my most recent post if my egg cups are Quimper. I have no idea! They are not marked but definitely have that look. So, I guess I could say that "they are of the Quimper style!"

If I could just come over and steal, oops, borrow those soup bowls I would dance all the way home. Aw, shucks. My mama says that is not nice. They are so beautiful and you did such a great job blending them with the tablecloth and the accessories. Beautiful table as usual. Ginger

Thanks for your sweet comments on my table. I am actually going to host a luncheon using this table for the girl who gave me the cute plates. She will love it of course!

I adore this tablecloth. I have several sets of gold that would love to be featured on it. I never thought of searching for linens at Savers! Great idea. Those gorgeous pear bowls are fantastic. What great finds!
