Mother's Day Table 2012

Finally after more than 2 weeks without a computer I am back! Now I have to learn how to use Windows 7. I am very computer illiterate so it may take a long time before I feel comfortable.

This week's tablecloth reminded me of my mother, who loved all colors.

I found it at Savers for $3.99...someone appliqued the flowers and then did quite a bit of embroidery, too. It has a couple shades of blues, greens, yellows, and pink along with a very thin border of brown around the whole thing. I noticed that I forgot to iron out the wrinkles...my girlfriends didn't mention it when we had lunch yesterday! They are mothers that I volunteer with at the local thrift store.

I used lots of pink, dishes, glassware and napkins, plus the centerpiece! The napkins are hemstitched linen. The flatware is Oneida Afterglow.
I used the pink stemware for iced tea and the green for wine. I don't know either maker or pattern. If anyone knows what the green pattern is, I would love to hear from you. They are my favorite of all the stemware I own. I think they may be something from the 1930's, but really have nothing to go on.

I used white Gibson Regalia for chargers. The pink dinner plates are Goebel Meridian, the salad plate is Alfred Meakin (haven't looked up the pattern), and the soup bowls are Nurumi Pink Scroll. The little pink flower shaped dish was for the mini cupcakes we had for dessert. I am sure you have seen most of these dishes at one time or another, but not all together.

The rim shot.

The centerpiece was a tureen filled with the most wonderful scented peonies. I found the tureen (lid and ladle not shown) at Savers for $5.99...I did not buy it the first time I saw it, but when it still sitting on the shelf 10 days later I knew it was meant to come home with me!

I have used the green metal candlesticks before...I just love the height of them.

This is some of my peonies. I would love to thin them out, but am so afraid they won't blossom again...they are touchy when transplanted I have heard.

Thanks for taking the time to visit, hope you come back the next time, too. I will be joining these parties this week.

Love the pinks! I know it's one of your least favorite colors, but some of us love it! Glad you're back showing off the talent in the family!
Love you,
Jude

Oh my goodness...I LOVE this table! The cloth is amazing to start with and you know I love Pink (not the YOU do, lol) but the colors you combined are a perfect compliment to the tablecloth. Your glasses are so pretty and the green looks vintage for sure. I hope someone will know what pattern it is. The peonies are gorgeous! What lovely flowers and your plants are blooming like crazy! All in All....A great table! Hugs, Linda

All the pinks make this truly a wonderful and pretty table (I used the same sort of hemstitched napkins as you, only in white). Love your china pieces and your peonies are just gorgeous!

Yippeeeeeee!!!! You're back! If you have any questions re: Windows 7, just let me know. I should be able to help. I've had it for quite awhile. I've always been a "Windows person." Your peonies are so brilliantly colored!!! Wow! I would love to have that color in my yard! I don't have any experience with thinning, so I can't help you there. I pretty much kill everything I touch anyway! :-) I am so excited that we both wen the pink & green route this week!!! I especially love that you added the height on the sides!

Glad you're back. I have Windows 7 and you'll quickly get the hang of it, I like it much better than Vista and XP. Didn't take long to get used to it at all! just holler if you have any questions. Beautiful table, so pretty. I love the peonies.

My mother never stops telling everyone how pink is her favorite color so this would be her favorite tablescape. I have Windows 7, but I liked XP better but getting the hang of it. My peonies won't be out until mid-summer so enjoy seeing yours. hugs, bbb

Beautiful, Marlis, and a lovely tribute to your mother! Lucky you, with so many pretty pink dishes to layer! I like your candlesticks that are twins to mine except in color -- they ARE great for adding height. And I am jealous of your peonies!

Gorgeous Peonies, what a beautiful color! I only wish they weren't so short-lived! We were out of town for a week and they are almost bloomed out. Wonderful tablecloth! I am NOT a fan of ironing and use Downy Wrinkle Releaser instead :)

Such pretty pink dishes and your peonies are just gorgeous! Can I ask a stupid question? What exactly is Saver's and how can I find one?

I'm glad your back Marigene. I'll ask my sister about thinning the peonies. She has over 100 peony bushes lining her long driveway. A lovely tribute to your mother, and so many pretty pink dishes. Happy Mother's Day to you!

OK, I want to know what this Savers place is and if it's exclusive to your area. I love the stuff you got, and the prices are RIGHT up my alley.

That's the prettiest tablecloth. There's so many things you can do with it because of all the color. My favorite part of all, though, is the whimsical tureen in the center.

It seems so many of us remember our mothers with pink. Mine, too, loved all things pink which always surprised me because she didn't seem like a pink person.
I'm glad you're back.

I love your pink china, Marigene. Your stemware is beautiful! I have heard the same thing about peonies. I moved some in our yard after we bought this house and it took several years for it to "forgive me". :)
