Midnight Rooster

I wanted to do a table with black/white today, but didn't really know what other color to use until I was deciding on the soup/salad bowls that would go...the Midnight Rooster won out. They are black with a white rooster and green vines.

I started with a very large black dinner plate which is used as a charger...never have used them for dinner as they are so big! In fact I have been using salad plates for dinner plates the past 3-4 years. When I plate them, they look full, but really it is a good sized serving, without going overboard. Doing this has helped me lose some weight that crept up over the last 10 years or so.

The dinner plates are Steubenville Rose Point. The salad plates are my favorites. They are unmarked, but it is obvious they are quite old.

I only have two sets of glassware in black and neither one looked quite right so a teal was chosen to go with the teal in the soup/salad bowl. The glasses are Libbey Gibralter and the color is actually listed as juniper.

The flatware is Oneida's Louisiana.

Love the colors together. The polka-dotted napkins really jumped out at me. Also fancy your signature rooster centerpiece. Another winner!

The rooster bowls are a great choice for this tablescape and add just the right pop of color. The Rooster pitcher makes a great centerpiece. Hugs, Linda

I am giving you a standing ovation for your choice of stemware!!!! What's that old saying, "Necessity is the Mother of invention"? When your black ones didn't quite cut it for you, you were challenged to look outside the box and find something that really hooked in well to the design of the plates without blending into it. Beautiful!!!!!!! Like you, I have used a salad plate for most meals for the past 10+ years. I haven't lost any weight, but it has probably kept me from gaining anymore. Those pounds just creep right up if we're not careful. One day I thought someone was following me. Then I realized it was just my big behind!!! :-) Have a beautiful holiday weekend, Marigene!

You are so smart! All the experts say that using a small plate curbs overeating. I do it all the time, and I do think it helps. Matter expands to fill space? Something like that. Maybe it is my hips? Oh well, your table looks beautiful. Looove the goblets! And I need to hemp my black polka-dot napkins.

Great table Marigene! Those rooster plates are awesome. And we do the same thing here, we use salad plates 75% of the time. Here I have all these gorgeous dinner plates but, we use the salad plates instead. LOL But, it really does help control food portioning. Thank you for joining TTF last week. I am sorry it is so late catching up with everyone. I hope you are having a great day!
