Lunch With Friends

I had friends over for lunch yesterday so I did set a table and even took a few pictures! I started with a cream lace tablecloth, woven chargers and cream linen napkins with brown napkin rings.

I used my Staffordshire Liberty Blue dinner plates that I bought by the placesetting at the grocery store each week when it first came out for our country's bicentennial. The handled Wood & Sons Gay Day cream soup bowls were used for the green salad.

The glassware is Fostoria Monet.

The menu was a green salad, spicy chicken cakes with horseradish aioli, mac/cheese (Vermont sharp cheddar, garlic boursin, goat cheese and a tiny bit of bleu cheese) and dessert was apple dumplings with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Some of the best friends in the world...Margaret, Jo Ann, Norma, Phyllis and SueZ all filled up!

Thanks for stopping by this week...hope you will come back.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people on the east coast that have been devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

Get on down with your totally bad self, Marigene!!!! You really put on the dog for your friends!!! I LOVE it that you used the cream soups for serving the salad! That's the kind of thinking outside the box that makes for great tables! Very, very nice!!!

Goodness, I would have loved to have been a guest at that luncheon. Yum, yum.

And since blue and white are some of my favorite dishes, I just love the setting, too. Super idea to serve the salad in the handled soup bowls; I love that and will have to borrow that idea.

My mom Norma and I were a couple of those lucky friends that Marigean invited over for lunch. The table setting was so crisp and clean. But let me tell you this lady can cook like no other. The food was fantastic. Thanks again, Sue Z.
