Simple, Simple, Simple

I am all about simple this month!
I was gone all day yesterday so didn't get the table set until night...and today is another overcast, yucky day so the pictures are pretty bad. I took some with the lights on, they have too much glare and the ones without lights are too dark. Hopefully next week will be better for photography!

I started with a red woven placemat to which I added a Johnson Brothers Ming (1974-1978) dinnerplate as a charger. The creamy white small plate and chili bowl do not have any markings.

The mottled red stemmed glassware is some I have used several times. I don't have too much in the way of red that goes with a casual setting.

Napkins are simple checked with a fringe, flatware are a very plain 1847 Rogers Brothers pattern. I sure would like to know the name of it so I could find more...if anyone knows the pattern name, please let me know.

Everything on the table was found in thrift stores!

***Someone just identified the silverware, the pattern is Plain. Thank you to the anonymous poster for the information, I really appreciate it.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, do come back the next time.

Please follow me around to the parties I will be joining this week.

Love the table! I'm into simple right now also! This looks like a cozy table to sit down to and have some yummy chili! Photos aren't bad. It is so hard on these dark days. Hugs, Linda

If it's red I like it....simplicity, too. Another great setting. It's yucky here, too so I'll be there for dinner shortly!

I love simple tables the best! The Johnson Brothers plates are such a lovely pattern -- and new to me. Your table looks warm and welcoming! Have you tried sending a photo of your flatware to Replacements.com? They've helped me identify some of my patterns.

Oh, your red is perfect for a dreary evening! I love those happy plates and the red on the goblets. Beautiful job!

Marigene, I think the lighting is really pretty. Especially that second one with the natural light reflecting off the table. I need to take more in that light. Everything looks perfect and the shape of the plates are so fun. The brights give me hope for spring and summer weather. We are being dumped on faster than we can shovel it and this perks me up.

How lucky for you, Marigene, to find such great thrift finds. The plates are so pretty and I love the mottled red goblets.

I think you did a lovely job with difficult lighting, Marigene. I completely understand the issue...same thing here. I rarely post food photos during the winter because by the time I've got it ready to go on the table, it is almost dark out!
Hurry up Spring!!!!!

Your Ming plates remind me a little bit of the Amish/Dutch good luck signs we see on barns. Very similar patterns.

That snow that is dumping on Jacqueline is coming our way, so look out!!

Warm hugs,
Rett

Hi Marigene, I had trouble with lighting today too! It's just so dark and gray out. I think your pictures came out fine! The table is perfect--can't believe you found it all thrifting! i really love the napkins with their fringe. Linda

It is always so hard for me to get what you're talking about when you say the pictures are bad. I can see the stuff and the color, so they don't look bad to me at all! As I may have said before, maybe that's just me. I can't see the difference between HD and regular TV, either!!! The is a great table for this time of year. The relevant simplicity is conveyed through the complex process of choosing just the right dishes which you have done a great job of here. Not everyone can put together different patterns and yield a quality result, y'know! All the bright color wakes up the senses!!! On cold, dreary days like today, we REALLY need that!!!!!!!!! Stay warm!

I think that flatware pattern is just called "Plain." I have some and use it all the time. There are some dinner forks for sale on Etsy now, probably just listed today.

Well, that's an appropriate name for that pattern! LOL! Sometimes plain is just what is needed! Lovely table and, of course, your thrifty finds are fantastic!!! Thanks for the visit and kind words! Blessings, Tammy

Don't you just love Johnson Brother dishes, they are one of my favorite brands of dishes. I find this time of year hard to photography in, not enough sunlight!! A pretty setting. Laura

Your cozy thrift store table is perfect for this time of year. Did you get your red pillar candle holders at Kmart? I have the same ones, and I think they are from the Sandra Lee collection.

Those Johnson Bros plates are wonderful! Love the way the red placemat brings out the colors in the dinner plates. (PS: my photos always have too much glare, because I always have to use the overhead lights. I need to figure out an alternative). laurie
