Run For the Roses

It is almost time for all the red, pink and whites to come out of the dish cupboard...trial run with red and white this week.

The cream lace tablecloth is old, not antique old, just old (like me). I chose red and cream toile napkins as they match the dinner plate in color perfectly.

The flatware is Oneida Louisiana stainless found at Savers last year for almost nothing. I bought service for 8 at less than $20.

The stemware is Cristal D'arques Antique in ruby. When held up to the window, they are a true red. I have seen these in other colors and would love to find some in other colors.

The dinner plate is J & G Meakin Tudor Roses, the salad plate is unmarked and the soup bowl is Johnson Brothers Snowhite Regency.

I have used my Red Cliff tureen and the red mercury glass candle holders as the centerpiece. I recently found the underplate to the tureen.

The rim shot.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you will return next time.

Oh, that last photo of the whole table is gorgeous! I love the dinner plates with the napkins, and the "Antique" pattern crystal is perfect. I had to go to Replacements to see the other colors, too -- I want them all!

Absolutely exquisite reds and whites. Your glasses and fantastic. That reminded me of my mother's lace tablecloth and I haven't gotten it out in ages. Now I am going to have to go search (probably organize too!)

Those napkins and plates are fabulous together and I love the goblets. My daughter has the purple ones, which she allows me to borrow sometimes. They photograph so beautifully. Your "old" tablecloth is lovely. I laughed at your "like me" comment. Believe me - I am beginning to feel like an "antique" - lol!!

Silly me...I didn't know Cristal d'Arques made colored stemware! That just goes to show you how little I keep up with what's going on in the world! I love that deep ruby red. It's majestic! I have those same napkins, but not the beautiful dishes that complement them so perfectly. You made a great match there!!! Glad you found the underplate for the tureen. You are such a trooper when it comes to finding great stuff! As for the tablecloth, like fine wine, baby...like fine wine!!! :-) Have a great weekend, Marigene!!!

Settings for 8 for less than $20....that's amazing! Your photos show your table to be very dramatic which is perfect for dim lighting on Valentine's. I had to chuckle over your parenthetical remark.

I love the toile napkins and the Tudor Rose plates -- they speak to my love of all things European. I've been inspired this week to get out my soup tureen and use it in a tablescape, and your lovely tablescape strengthened my idea. Thanks for visiting The Dish Room!

Hi Marigene,

This is my favorite tablescape that you've done -- I love it!!! Your dinner plate and salad plate are so pretty, and the Red Cliff tureen is such a treasure. I especially love the red and cream toile napkins (I never get tired of toile) and the Crystal d'Arques ruby stemware is gorgeous. Your Oneida stainless is very similar to our Oneida Tennyson we got when we got married. This is just a lovely, romantic table.

Visiting from Seasonal Sunday -- have a wonderful weekend.
