A Tonquin Table

Valentine's Day is almost upon us...this year I went with purple transferware, white and touches of pink.

I started with pink placemats then layers of dishes. The charger is an overly large dinner plate by Laurie Gates Tribeca Platinum topped with Royal Staffordshire Tonquin by Clarice Cliff dinner plate, an unmarked creamy white salad plate and finally the CCT soup bowl, which is very shallow, so it can be used as a salad plate, too. I added a whimsical little flower shaped plate for a roll.

I love the border of this creamy white plate, it has a bird and what looks like reeds and flowers.

The napkins are a bright pink gathered with a simple silver napkin ring.

The glassware consists of an amethyst water glass and a pale pink wine stem.

The flatware is Oneida Louisiana, which has become a favorite in the house.

I am not a lover of roses so I was looking for either alstroemeria or tulips in pinks or purples...I ended up with a bunch of tulips...which I love...maybe white would have been better...the vase is pale amethyst in color, though it looks like plain old glass.
I used purple candles on my mercury glass candle holders to round out the centerpiece.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, it is really appreciated.

I will be joining a few parties this week, please follow me around...you never know who you will meet or what you will see!

It's snowing here...AGAIN, so this tablescape brightens up my day.

I don't know, Marigene....the pink tulips really draw the eye through the middle of the table. White would have been cool, too, but the pink just seems to work really well with the napkins and placemats. It's still just "a touch of pink" like you wanted! It ALL works beautifully with the purple & white dishes. What a pretty, pretty pattern! The white plate with the bird & reed patterned rim works with it really nicely! Very romantic!!! Have a Happy Smoochin' & Huggin' Day! :-)

Marigene,
Oh, dear one, my heart is swooning!!!
Don't know what has come over me here of late, I do love the purple accents! The Royal Staffordshire Tonquin dinnerware is one of my very favorite that you use in your gorgeous tablescapes!!! Combined with the amethyst stemware is exquisite!!!
I think the pink tulips were the perfect choice, especially with the silver mercury glass candle holders and the hue of purple in your pillar candles!!! I am in L O V E with this Valentine Day Tablescape!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Really beautiful combination of pinks and purples, Marigene! I love the dish stack -- and given the post's title, I had to read closely to find out what Tonquin meant! Happy Valentine's Day!

Lovely shades of pink & purple, Marigene! I'm not familiar with "Tonquin"...will google to learn more.

I can see the amethyst shading in your flower vase! And ANY spring time flower lifts my spirits about now. Beautifully done!
