Winter Blues...

Who doesn't have the winter blues...maybe someone that is in far warmer and sunnier clime than I. The poor people on the east coast...they sure have had their share of snow and cold this year, maybe I shouldn't complain of winter blues.  I chose to do another very simple tablescape, no frills, no flowers and no fuss!
This week I decided something blue was appropriate...winter seems never ending this year and we haven't had very much snow, just lots of grey days. Of course, today turns out to be sunny!

The linens are a white damask tablecloth (that I used last week) and blue/white Summer Stock napkins that I have had for almost 10 years.

The plate layer starts with a white Mesa International charger, large navy Max Studio dinner plate being used as a second charger, a blue/white striped Pier One Marea dinner plate, a Home salad plate in navy and topped with a white American Atelier Athena soup bowl.

The flatware is vintage Oxford Hall Fashion Wear in navy.

The glassware is Artland Iris in cobalt.

For the centerpiece I have chosen a blue shaded tureen...it was someone with the initial K's ceramic project back on 4/13/1981...she did a great job of shading the blue from dark to light on both the underplate as well as tureen.

Thank you for taking a few minutes from your busy life to stop and read my little blog...hope you will return next time.

I will be joining

Love the simplicity and the blue!
Has been a long, snowy- cold and windy winter here in the northeast so this table sure cheered me up. Just wish I was sharing it with you!

Hi Marigene,
I will take your winter blues table any day, just lovely. I really love the stack and your blue striped napkins really pops along with those gorgeous cobalt glasses. Love how you used the tureen as your centerpiece. We've had a lot of cold weather here, but no snow. In the south that's a good thing (we just can't drive in those conditions here).
Hugs.......

I think the winter blues have just gone here, spring is in the air, but your blue tablesetting is just gorgeous!

Beautiful table Marigene! I am feeling the blues of this lovely winter tablescape. The stripes in the Pier 1 plates and the napkins takes me to a warm day by the lake watching the sailboats come and go as we sit on the beach grilling the wieners and dogs as we are sipping our lemonade (or maybe a beer or two). Beautiful combination of plates in the stack. I love the flatware and the stems too. I have been in a blue and white mood lately too.

Hi Marigene, You certainly captured the "winter blues" perfectly with this table. It really is beautiful! I love blue and white, so naturally this appeals to me. My favorites are your blue striped plates and the cobalt blue salad plates -- so pretty!! I also love the Athena soup bowls and your pretty damask tablecloth. However, the tureen is the first thing that caught my eye on your table. Wow -- I love it!! What a great find!

It sounds like maybe your weather has not been quite as cold as ours, but those gray days get old really fast, don't they? The sun is shining here today, too, but it's BITTER cold out. Duncan needs to get some wiggles out, but it's just too cold to stay outside for long. :)

Thanks for sharing your table with us, Marigene, and have a wonderful evening.

Warm hugs,

Denise

Love your blues today and not because I'm feeling blue, I just love blues. That's a very pretty soup tureen. And I love the green in your header tables cape.

Stunning, as always. I particularly love those yummy striped plates!

Now all you need is some great chili or soup in that tureen. That should make you feel all warm and cozy. It is cold here in Alabama too -- even down in Florida!

This table setting is gorgeous! Winter blues, and yet anything but dull, so beautifully bright and inviting and capturing the elements of a cold and frosty morning. What fun to be a guest at one of your dinner parties.
Have a lovely and I hope sunny day,
Jemma

There is nothing dreary about this bright blue table Marigene! You have brightened this dull day here and my spirits which sank when I heard snow in our forecast this week...Alabama does not handle snow well, it is sure to be chaos! Love the striped napkins and the gorgeous goblets!

I'm one of those in the northeast and yes, we all have the winter blues. I was surprised to learn that the lovely tureen was someone's ceramic project…they did a great job just as you did with your table.

We just spent the past week in California and what a shock to the system to trade mid to upper 80s and wake up to -7 this morning! Even though it's cold here I pity the poor people who've had more than their share of snow this winter. Your blues are perfect! What a pretty table.

Your winter blues are so pretty, Marigene. I'm having the blues today because our streets are too icy and schools have been closed for the past two days.
