Christmas Table

Christmas is almost upon us! The inspiration for the table was the tartan rimmed salad plates. Today is a dark rainy day, so some the photos were taken with the flash.

I knew I was going to use the hand crocheted bedspread as a tablecloth. My brother-in-law bought a house fully furnished and this happened to be part of the furnishings. He graciously let me have this piece of handcraft. Thank you, Mark. I wish I had thought to put a plain red cloth underneath so the pattern would really stand out.

I started layering, starting with a black woven placemat. Next is an over-sized red Waechtersback dinner plate that I am using as a charger. A beautiful Hutschenreuther china, circa 1925-1939, dinner plate in cream and white with gold edging is on top of the red charger. The next layer is the tartan salad plate and finally the cream soup bowls/underplates by Noritake, circa 1912 that my sister Judy found for $2 each set.

The stemware is an etched water glass and a Towle Leyland, circa 1982, wine stem.

The flatware is International Silver's Frontenac, circa 1903, sterling. Some pieces have a monogram, some is plain. It is my favorite pattern, a daylily on each piece. I added the salt dips and spoons but didn't fill them as salt corrodes silver. I will add the salt and pepper just before dinner is served.

I used white, red and black linen napkins tied with a Christmas ornament.

The centerpiece is a couple of gold beaded candles, two red beaded trees, a green ceramic tree, red votives, surrounded with live greens from the yard.
The rim shot!

Ever Green

We will be in Vermont with my family for the holidays so this is my last tablescape of the year. Susan, at Between Naps On The Porch is the host of my favorite weekly meme. Thank you, Susan, for hosting each week...please make sure you stop by her blog to see more inspirational tables.

I have used rattan chargers, a green charger, W Adams & Sons England, the patter is Italian Scenery dinner/dessert plates and Taylor, Smith, Taylor salad plates. The cute little green cordials are a Christmas gift from my dear friend, Linda at A la Carte. She knows that green is my favorite color and she said she couldn't not get them for me...thank you, again, Linda!

Red and Green...

With all the holiday goings on I almost forgot it is time for Tablescape Thursday with Susan at Between Naps On the Porch. Please make sure that you stop by BNOTP to see all the other tablescapes.

We got up to a white Christmas for the first time since moving to Kansas almost 8 years ago! With all the drifting it was hard to tell exactly how much but it was about 7-9 inches. This unexpected "gift" changed our plans of going to friends for dinner. It was a very relaxing day, not doing much and definitely not going anywhere on unplowed roads.

I used the holly/berry plates that you saw a week or so ago...they were a Goodwill purchase.

Wishing everyone a very Happy, Healthy New Year and thank you, all, for making my first few months blogging so enjoyable!
