What, Another Tureen...

Another week and month have flown by...it is time for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch. Thanks for hosting this inspirational meme week after week, Susan.

You can enlarge any of the pictures just by clicking on them.

My inspiration this week was some red alstromeria that came in a lovely bouquet and a Goodwill tureen with a little red in the pattern. The flowers were starting to fade so I took out all the ones that still looked good, you may see more of them in a future tablescape, who knows.

This rather large tureen with matching ladle was $2.99 and is from the Home Collection at JCPenney. I really had no need for another tureen but at that price who wouldn't have put it in their cart?

I started with a white Damask tablecloth, red napkins, then added an over-sized black dinner plate which I am using as a charger plate, white dinner plate, black salad plate topped with a red soup bowl; all are solid color. The flatware is Oneida Sterling, Afterglow.

I was the lucky recipient of a CSN giveaway that Linda of A la Carte had back in the fall, if you have never visited her blog, you really should...so I used it to get these beautiful red water/iced tea/lemonade stems. It was free shipping, too! Thanks, again, Linda and CSN.

Plates layered.

Table overall.

I love it all -- great new glasses from CSN, but I loooove the new tureen. We don't have GW around here and our equivalent DI never has beautiful things like that -- it just sets off your table. Joni

Fabulous tablescape again. I love the plate with the cookies. Of course, I am sure you remember, how much I love cookies and thought of your mom with each one I had at her service. Love, bbb

Another beautiful table as always. I love the reds. The black and white contrast well. I saw those sugar cookies and my stomach growled as well. Amazing what one can do with both treasures and bargains. Good job!

Marsha said...

Very beautiful once again Marigene. The color combo is beautiful and I really like the goblets you got with your CSN $$. Since you are using lots of reds/blacks lately, I can't wait to see what you do for Valentine's Day.

Pam Kessler said...

Can you ever have too many tureens? Not possible. And for $2.99 you have to buy it. Great tablescape - love the color combo on this one.

Love the tureen! Are the flowers 3D or are they painted? They look 3D.

Tricia said...

Why, of COURSE you needed that pretty tureen! What an amazing price, too! I love the way you've let it command attention by using solid colors for everything else. Wonderful shapes in that rim shot of the stacked plates!

Tureens have a warm spot in my heart! If I had a huge house, I would collect them :-) Great find!

I love your red stems!

As I told you before, there is rarely anything decent at the Goodwill. I think it gets picked over immediately before I get there!

I'm finally getting around to see all the tablescapes! Thanks for dropping by to visit my site ... and for the sweet comment about my mother. Truth is ... everything about her life with Alzheimer's made me sad ... and mad ... at the time, but now I have to find some humor in it now. She's probably doing the same.

Now, about your tureen. I have one ... with matching pieces. It was a part of the Christmas line that JCPenny had probably 15 years ago! I even have canape knives that match the line. You got a real bargain!
