Majestic Purple
Part of the inspiration for my table this week came from one of my favorite blogs, Nancy's Daily Dish...we have the same glassware. I hadn't thought to put the two together until perusing her blog last week. Yes, I did copy her! I knew I was going to do a mainly purple table and they just seemed to complement the salad/dessert plate which has purple, green, orange, gold and brown in it.
I started with an ecru lace tablecloth and wicker chargers. I then layered a plain purple dinner plate, from The Better Homes and Gardens bought last year at Walmart, on sale of course; this I used as the charger plate. The next layer is a plain white dinner plate, Homer Laughlin White Dover, then a dark brown rimmed salad plate by Sterling, which I think is a type of restaurantware. Finally the top plate, which I am using for dessert, is another Better Homes and Garden from Walmart last year.
I found the purple, orange and gold napkins at Savers back last year after Thanksgiving and scooped them up. The beige flatware is from World Market.
Stacked plates.
The centerpiece is the vintage Red Cliff tureen in the Grape pattern found on eBay for less than $25. It didn't have the underplate with it, so I have used one from one of my other white grape patterned tureens, which is nowhere near as ornate as the original. I have seen this tureen priced for over $400 on Amazon and eBay! The purple candles are just sitting on little purple bread dipping plates. The urns are from thrift stores, probably Goodwill.
Thanks for taking the time to visit tonight. Hope to see you again, soon!

Marigene, the Majestic Purple is a treat for my eyes tonight! You will never run out of beautiful glassware either.
love your color combo.I do plum in the fall too.
I really love the non-traditional fall table. I really like deep purple, but I don't have much in that color at all. The goblets are gorgeous and your tureen is perfect as we enter soup season.
Very pretty! I love the tureen as the centerpiece!! I never use mine so it may as well be a centerpiece!! lol! Love the colors and the purple dishes and goblets look fabulous!!

I love the purple. It is not a color I have much of, but this has inspired me to be on the lookout for some. The glasses, the salad plates and the napkins...perfection. Love the tablecloth on an angle like that.

You know they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I'm sure Nancy won't mind that you borrowed her idea at all! Nearly everything in life is a borrowed idea whether we know it or not, so it's all good! Very nice, Miss Marigene!!!!!
Beautiful table, Marigene. I love the touches of purple and the plates from Walmart are beautiful!
I have your green and orange glasses too. I love purple and your table is beautiful. I like the lacey tablecloth too. What a great deal on the Red Cliff tureen, even without the plate and your substitute looks perfect. Thanks for stopping, Marigene and yes the dishes are vintage, not sure how old though. I am guessing maybe 50's?...Christine
Adore the dishes you have combined for this setting, so pretty and unusual, love the purples and oranges and those beautiful glasses wow, love it all...I am new follower...
I have purple glass envy! They are so pretty. Love the combinations of color.
Beautiful tureen, tureen queen! Like Imelda had shoes, you have tureens!
Your vintage Red Cliff tureen is a true treasure and one that you will use many many times. It is just plain wonderful to "look" at! The purple/leaf salad plates are really a neat touch to your table, also.
How lovely your autumn purples are. I love those plates ---- amazing what we can find at Walmart. Beautiful tureen -- what a great find. This looks like a wonderful table for a bowl of fall soup.
It looks great. I used purple last year too. Love your tureen and the price.
What a pretty table! I never think of purple as a fall color but it really is. It looks lovely with everything else. Beautiful glassware.
You did a lovely job on this tablescape! I love the purple salad plates. Then really bring out all the vibrant colors of the fall season. I also like your goblets - beautiful! Susie

Hi Marigene, Purple is one of my favorite colors, and you did it proud here, I love it featured in fall. Your beautiful tureen really sets the colors off so beautifully. Beautiful!
Beautiful warm and welcoming Fall tablescape. The goblets make my heart go pitterpat! Thank you for inviting us to the table. Cherry Kay
You really scored with those napkins! They repeat the colors of the salad plates and add another print and texture! I like purple and it looks like you captured the shades in your photos--something that is not always easy to do. Your table is lovely.
What a deal you got on that tureen!
Love the purple twist on Fall!

Beautiful table. I'm a new follower. And I love purple.
I smiled when I saw those two sets of glasses paired. I think we have some other glasses that are alike as well. I used the green/purple/orange again tonight. I just love them! They are PERFECT with your salad plates. Love the whole look you've created!
Nancy

Hi Marigene,
Glad you stopped by for a visit. :) Your table looks so warm and fall-like -- very cozy. I thought we had the same flatware for a minute -- close, but not exactly. I congratulate you on that BEAUTIFUL tureen at such a bargain. I would love to have one of those, and you're right; they can be quite expensive. What a great find for you! I also love your purple goblets; they look so elegant.
Thanks for the kind comment you left on my blog, and I hope you have a great weekend.

Gorgeous table. Your tablecloth is such a beauty. I love purple. I have a fall tablecloth with purple in it. Purple just goes so well with fall colors! Well done!
PS Gorgeous plates too!
Wow that soup tureen is awesome! What a bargain you found!! I have seen them for upwards of $200 here in OKC. It looks wonderful in the middle of your gorgeous fall table! I bought those same plates at WalMart last year but mine have a cream background rather than purple. I really love the purple best!
Miss Bloomers
Sorry I'm late to the party. Although my table was in the sun (I did it the week before) I was in cold and snowy NJ this week. I love your color combination. I'm loving purple right now. And the soup tureen! Watch for my post on the Campbell's Soup Tureen Collection I got to see on my trip. Thanks for visiting.
