It's Almost Easter

I can't believe Easter is just a few short days away. I decided to set a little more formal table than I usually do. This year I'm not using any of the Easter themed dishes. Our friends Paul and Denise gifted me with a service for eight, plus lots of serving pieces. Thank you guys! Each place setting contains 7 pieces. This china was found at a local auction. The pattern is Ariel by Yamaka. Each piece is gold rimmed with yellow roses and gray leaves on a white background.

The tablecloth is embroidered with some type of handiwork on the sides, maybe a type of lace or crochet. It is very thin, almost sheer. I don't remember where I got it, it's been around for a long time.

Placesttting.

The wine glass is Towle Leyland and the champagne flute is Cristal d'Arques Longchamps. Both were found at thrift stores for almost nothing.

The flatware is Oneida Afterglow, circa 1956, the yellow damask napkins are old and oh, so soft. The napkin rings are thrift store finds. Oops, just noticed I forgot to put out the butter knives.

I have been itching to use the crystal candle holders that I bought at Savers last year for a song. They are pineapples and can hold either tapers or 2-inch wide pillars. The lilacs are from my yard, they have finally blossomed...so are some of the iris!

I really thank you for taking the time to visit today...hope you will come back next time, too.

I will be joining the following memes this week. Unlike some of the hosts that rarely, like once every couple years, acknowledge one's participation I try to visit as many blogs as I can on the memes/parties I join. I realize the hosts sometimes have hundreds of entrants, but who do they think made their blogs popular...bloggers like you and I. It is my opinion that the gracious thing to do is thank your entrants. I feel this way, especially toward the ones making big bucks off each time someone clicks onto their blog! I feel better getting this off my chest...and these hosts know who they are!

Lucky you to have lilacs AND iris up already!!! I sure wish I had a lilac bush or two in our yard. They smell so pretty and the flowers are perfect for decorating! The china is bautiful. I have never seen that pattern before with the gorgeous yellow roses on it. Great score on the Cristal d'Arques champagne flutes! I love that pattern so much that I have it in flutes, goblets, iced teas, high balls...you name it! How pitiful am I? :-) I applaud you for both your beautifully set table and your no-nonsense approach. You go, girl!!!

You know I love those dishes with the yellow roses!! Beautiful tablescape, the lilacs are gorgeous, I don't think I've ever seen real lilacs, I've heard they smell wonderful too!

Blogging has certainly changed, anytime money comes in to play, it usually takes the joy out it.

Marigene, I truly love the soft yellows! The pineapple candleholders are beautiful with the yellow tapers. Nice that the lilacs have bloomed for your Easter table. Happy Easter!

What a pretty color scheme! Yellow and lilac really spell EASTER and SPRING! I love the delicate pattern of your "new" dishes, and the yellow napkins and sweet napkin rings are perfect with them.

Hi Marigene!

What dear friends you have! Those dishes are lovely. I like how you used the purple lilacs to accent the yellow in the dishes. Those little bow napkin rings are darling.

YOU are ALWAYS considerate and thank me for hosting my party!!! I know what you mean. I like when people leave me a thank you comment for my Bunny Hop Party... and I do my darnedest to thank all who join up. When I have difficulties doing so I always try to explain why. Sometimes (even thought my party is small) I just can't get around to everyone... when that is the case, the ones who didn't thank me for hosting may not get a comment from me.

I like my party small because I feel more connected that way :) and can not imagine how the "mega party" hosts can comment on all the entries.

Thank you for sharing at my party this week... and your encouraging words about my husband's job :)

xoxo Bunny Jean

I can't believe your lilacs are out. They look so beautiful on your very delicate table - just lovely.

I do try to visit all that join in Seasonal Sundays, but I must admit, sometimes life gets in the way. But I think it's important that hosts try - at least from time to time to reach out. Good for you for speaking your mind.

When your blog opened on my screen the first picture that appeared was the beautiful yellow rose dish, and I couldn't wait to see more. Your formal table is wonderful and I can smell the lilacs as I write. Ours are not even beginning to bloom yet, and we may have temps in the 20's tomorrow night. I hope they survive! Have a very happy Easter. Linda

OMG Marigene! What wonderful and generous friends to gift you with this gorgeous china! It really is beautiful! I just bought the same napkin rings at a thrift store recently. And that pineapple candle holder is so pretty. I love it! Beautiful table. I so agree about the hosts of the larger parties not visiting their guests. I work really hard to visit each of my participants. I join a lot of parties, but I am going to start joining only those who take the time to visit. I understand it takes time and occasionally you may not get to everyone every week. But, to NEVER stop by? That is just rude. Okay, I will get off my soap box now! LOL I hope you and your family have a happy and blessed Easter!

Beautiful!! Just simply BEAUTIFUL! I adore those pineapple candlestick holders. I would LOVE to find something similar for my DD...she is very partial to pineapples.

I, too, have some of the Cristal d'Arques Longchamps & they are so delicate & gracious looking. Perfect for this special meal.

I think the border of your beautiful tablecloth is called "drawn thread work" Very time consuming to do by hand. I've never even tried it!

Happy Easter, Hon,
fondly,
Rett

Visiting from the Tablescaper's Seasonal Sundays (my favorite meme btw). Love this table, cannot believe your lilacs have bloomed already and I love the pineapple candle holders. I agree with you about hosts acknowledging (there is one that I would boycott if I could, well, I sorta do it on my own) I actually don't see the attraction at that prissy blog anyway :) xo

Marigene,
I love your lilacs! Mine didn't bloom this year...go figure. i can never predict if they will bloom or not! Some years they are just beautiful! So pretty on your dining room table. I love all your thrift store finds! I am a thrift store girl too sprinkled with new things but I sure do like to get a bargain. Your new set of china is so dainty and charming! Love the little yellow flowers! I haven't seen any hummingbirds yet. I'm sure they are migrating...but I don't notice them hanging around my yard until late June or early July. Then we have them fighting over the feeders. Happy Spring!

Your table is so pretty. The lilacs are beautiful. I'd love to be able to grow the "old" varieties, but this far south, they don't do well.
LOVE your vintage/antique table linens, too.
