A Red and White Christmas Table!

Christmas is clearly descending upon us! I haven't figured out where the year has gone. Now I know what my mother meant when she said the years were flying by.

I have built the table around the red and white I pulled from the tablecloth. Can you believe I didn't choose green instead of red!  I tried to keep it really simple in this season that can become very stressful.

The dishes are either solid white or solid red.

The flatware is my Oneida Louisiana, which I have used often lately.

The glassware is an etched pattern clear and a red with a clear stem. The maker and pattern are not known.

The napkins are a red linen that I tied in a knot and added a white poinsettia.

The centerpiece is one of my many white tureens, this one is Himark Courtyard and the underplate is a really nice deep platter by Johnson Brothers that looks like it came with the tureen. The candlesticks are some you have seen many times.

Rim shot...

Poinsettia tablecloth-Savers $3.99
Red linen napkins-Savers
Cream chargers-Made in Portugal on the back, no maker
Red Waechtersbach dinner plate-TJMaxx, several years ago
White Wedgwood Hedge Rose salad plates-Goodwill 49¢ each
Red Waechtersbach dessert plate-Goodwill 99¢ each
Gibson soup bowl-Goodwill 49¢ each
Oneida Louisiana flatware-Savers $1.99 per 5-piece placesetting (I found 8)
Red stemware-Savers 8@ $2.99
Etched clear stemware-Goodwill 49¢ each
Himark tureen-Goodwill $2.99
Johnson Brothers platter-ARC Thrift Store $1.50
Candlesticks-Goodwill or Savers, can't remember
White poinsettias cut from a stem-Dollar General $1

Some of these prices are from a few years ago... but if you are lucky enough to hit a thrift store when they are having senior discount or a managers special you can find things for almost nothing...it is just being in the right place at the right time.

Thanks for the visit today...come back the next time!

I will be joining a few parties and hope you will follow me.

What a festive table setting. I love how you alternated the red and white dishes. The glassware is so pretty and love the little etched ones. How lucky am I to live close enough, that I get to come over to see your settings in person. Happy Holidays my friend -Sue Z.

I try to avoid bold, printed tablecloths just because they are so hard to set but you've done a beautiful job and red is my favorite color! Beautiful silverware also. I can see your hand holding the camera in one of your spoons :)

This really speaks Christmas to me! After the tree lighting this evening, I will do a little decorating with red.

Marignen,
WoW!!! This red and white tablescape is calling me to the Festive Christmas table!!!Poinsettas on the tablecloth and as napkin rings...elegantly displayed! Not only is your soup tureen a perfect centerpiece...but I adore the white ironstone in the cupboard as a backdrop! "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" In The Middle of Nowhere!!!

SLICK napkin treatment!!!!! Really slick! I love the knotted part, and adding the poinsettia just kicked it up a notch. Green & red are such classic colors for Christmas. I need to use more green. And you find some of the best bargains!!! I was in a thrift store the other day with my Mom (I didn't buy anything...restraint!!!), and I couldn't find anything nearly as cool as the stuff you are always able to snag. It's beautiful, Marigene. You really did a great job with this.

I am afraid my tablescapes NEVER turn out that well..but I never give up..which is sort of funny.
I say ok..that's it! No more..and then I see a lovely tablescape like yours and ... think..maybe one more time!! :)
Simply gorgeous!!

Gorgeous, Marigene! And, no, I can't believe you didn't go with green for this tablecloth, given your love of green! But it looks spectacular with the red and white pieces -- love the way you kept the rest of the pieces simple, to let the tablecloth shine. Lovely plate stacking!

I like your tablecloth and the dishes play off it very well! Beautiful stemware too! I'm a red person so this totally works for me! The poinsettias look great with it to.

Wow, great table! You are so good at finding bargains, I need to be on the outlook more. At the Savers here, I never find much. I do love the stack of plates and the bowl, great beading. Smart idea to tie the napkin in a knot and the red glasses top it off.
