Terracotta and Blue Tablescape

Here it is 5 p.m. and the sun is finally shining...these sunless, rainy days are really becoming depressing...
The inspiration for this table are a few terracotta pieces I have been slowly collecting.

I started with woven place mats found at Savers for $1.99 for all 4. On top of them are Pier 1 Vizcaya dinner plates, made in Italy. They are blue, gold and terracotta. Replacements, Ltd. calls it red, it is more terracotta than red, to me.

The soup/salad bowls are terracotta glazed inside.

The glassware is Colony Whitehall in amber that I have had for quite awhile.

The knife and fork are 1847 Rogers Brothers Plain and the spoon is Oneida Forever, circa 1939. I haven't found any spoons to match...one day they will appear in some thrift store!

The blue napkin is held with a terracotta rooster napkin ring. They were both found at Savers. The napkin rings were 69¢ for 4 after a 30% discount.

The centerpiece is a pair of terracotta barley twist candlesticks and a terracotta basket filled with tiny live plants (that my kitty seems to think is on her diet). The candlesticks almost look like someone tried to whitewash them.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today...please come back the next time.

What a great collection of terra cotta pieces...they go perfectly with your Pier 1 plates! I love the napkin rings and candlesticks, too.

You mention Savers a lot and I'm wondering what sort of store it is. We don't have one here that I know of. Sounds like they have wonderful deals!

Jane

You find the best bargains at Savers, Marigene. We don't have that store around here. I love your twisty candlesticks and they match your pretty centerpiece filled with plants. Your dishes are beautiful and such a pretty pattern.

Marigene. My cat is on the same diet these days. It's called the you are not paying me enough attention so I think I will get it anyway I can. Eating plants is his new game. Terra cotta had a softer santa fe vibe back several years ago. It came looking like it had a white wash to it. I remember it well. I love how you've collected so may pieces. They just look fabulous. Love the plates too! This table is wonderful!!! xo marlis

Marigene, Your terracotta pieces are wonderful and a delightful contrast to the bold dishes, which I also love! We don't have Savers up here, but we do have Pier 1 and I always find pretty dishes there. I like the amber glass too! Linda

If ANYONE will find those spoons in a thrift store somewhere, it'll be YOU. NO doubt about that whatsoever!!! You are truly a master of thrifting! (Or is that a mistress?) I have input it in my phone (although this phone is on its last legs!), so I can be on the lookout for you, too.

Replacements is trippin'. That's not red.

Beautiful table, Marigene! I'm glad the sun finally had the nerve to show its face around here, and I know you are, too! Enjoy it, cause you KNOW it won't stick around for very long!!!! (Thunderstorms tonight?)

Terra cotta dinnerware has such a down to earth integrity about it. And I love the way that it takes the glazes that are applied to it. Rich, rich colors...just beautiful. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

Wonderfully BOLD colors in this beautiful tablescape, Marigene! I think you did a bang-up job of combining textures & the deep shades shown.
I have some clear Colony Whitehall glasses that I save for company ice tea &/or lemonade. I don't want the dishwasher to ruin them with frequent use!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I felt like I was in Italy looking at this table. So pretty. I know I've said it before but your new camera is doing wonders for your beautiful tables. Of course, it's who is behind the lens that really counts.
