Yellow And Green

I have been going to do this table for a couple of weeks, but just didn't get around. I saw some corn plates on a blog (forgot which one, of course). I really didn't know there were corn plates out there, but shouldn't be surprised. I hopped on eBay and found some little ones. I have added them to my corn collection. The corn harvest has just ended in my area...of course, I didn't have my camera with me when we passed by the big green and yellow farm machinery hard at work in the fields.

I started building the table with green square placemats after selecting the dishes.

The napkins are a solid yellow held with a green napkin ring. I thought the perfect flatware would be the vintage, circa early 1970's, yellow handled Oxford Hall Fashion Wear flatware I found at Saver's couple months ago. I just love the chunkiness of the handles!

The pale yellow dinner plate is topped with an apple green salad plate. At the top of the meager stack is a small corn plate. The corn plates are made by Terrace Ceramics, Marietta, Ohio (one of the plates still had the maker's sticker on it). I believe they were from the 1950's and 1960's.

I debated on whether to use yellow or green glassware...felt the yellow would fade into the table so pulled out green Artland bubble glass.

Other pieces of my collection that I have used on the table are someone's vintage ceramic covered dish casserole, salt/pepper set, candle holder and small pitcher. I have several other pieces, but the table just isn't big enough!

Thank you for taking the time to visit today. I enjoy hearing from everyone. Have a wonderful week...

I will be joining Let's Dish/Cuisine Kathleen.

What a bright, snazzy table this week. Love the contrast of the bare (wood) table with the setting. You sure have an eye for what looks/goes good together. An eye-catcher for sure.

Hi, Marigene. I saw your comment at Diane's (Confessions of the Obsessed) and came right over, because I haven't connected with you for quite a while. Boy, am I glad I did...I've had a corn table in the works for two years now--even have pictures of the corn growing, and just haven't been able to get around to it. Yours turned out great.I don't have the plates, but I have other pieces to work with, then I'll be selling them, but I really want to do a table first. I can't believe the flatware--it's absolutely perfect for this table...now I want some too! They remind me of the yellow corn holders. Perfect! ~Zuni

Great tablescape....I feel bad now that I had a wonderful collection of Fitz and Floyd corn ceramics that were fabulous and for some strange reason I sold it all on E-bay years ago....I think I might have one or two pieces left...And I had gotten it all for cheap at one of their warehouse sales...such a dope :)
