Kansas Seashore!

This week is a challenge for a whimsical summer table for Let's Dish at Cuisine Kathleen. I chose to do a beach table in the middle of the country...east/central Kansas to be specific!

I started with a sandy colored tablecloth. Int the photos it looks more off white than sand. A pale blue napkin is held with a seashell napkin ring.

The woven placemats/chargers are topped with a Thompson Pottery Cape Cod dinner plate that will be used as a charger. The next plate has no mark at all on the back. I bought them at TJMaxx 5-6 years ago. Topping that is a shell dish that will be used for a salad. The only marking on the back is "oven proof Made in Japan". Lastly is a scallop shell to hold the roll.

The Madeline flatware in a pearly sand is from World Market.

The glassware is Artland Iris and a lemonade tumbler with shells and starfish in cobalt. Both of these were purchased at Savers some time ago.

The centerpiece is shells in a shell serving dish, shore birds and candles. All gathered over time.

The rim shot!

Sorry for the picture overload! There is nothing green on the table...I noticed the flatware and plates have a greenish tinge...everything is aqua, cobalt or tan!

Thanks for taking the time to visit today...hope you will return next time.

I will be joining

Oh I love the table setting. It would be perfect here in coastal NW Washington. I love all the colors and the designs on the plates. I have some seashell dishes, I should think about a seashore table too.

Beautiful pictures, the blue glasses are just stunning. My eye went straight to the blue glasses then the sand piper. Love the different birds around the table. Although we neither live near the beach it was fun creating the beachy tablescapes.

Marigene,
This adorable Kansas Seashore Tablescape has me wanting to say,"Ship Ahoy"!!! An unusual phrase for landlocked Prairie gal"s", indeed!!!
I adore all your seashore birds scattered along with the bowl of shells as your centerpiece, dear friend! Textures within the dinnerplates keeps the eye gently moving across the tables as waves do along the shore!!!
Tranquil hues of blue and green perfectly paired together as sky and sea!!!
Whimsical, indeed!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Very pretty "Kansas Beach" tablescape! Love the colors! You must be in withdrawal, not using any green! LOL! I'm loving the cobalt with aqua!

So now no one can diss us and say we don't have sealife in the Midwest! This is really pretty, Marigene! I think my favorite part might be the carved pelican and other ocean-loving birds. They look like something you'd find in a beach home on the east or west coasts!

You and that Savers!!! You do really well with that place! I don't think there's one terribly close to me, so I never go. I think the closest is in Independence. I never really venture over that way too much, so I end up missing out. The stuff at the ones on SMPkwy or in Olathe is probably much better anyway!

Your tablecloth showed up as more of a sand color on my computer, so mission accomplished!

I'm glad you used the napkin rings that you did. They REALLY make a statement!!! The texture really jumps out!

I've got some serious catching up to do. Right off, I am loving your seashore themed table, and I remember a carved sandpiper a friend gifted me once i saw your table decor.

From this and the other posts I've viewed, I love the flatware, the napkin folds, and you've got some gorgeous photos. I'm looking forward to a continued blog friendship.

Thanks again for the navigation.

I like your "Beach in Kansas" Tablescape, all cool and summer-like. I like your seashell centerpiece too. I have so many pretty seashells and I don't know why I haven't thought to use them in a tablescape, so I thank you for that idea. Thanks also for stopping by my blog and leaving your nice comment.

And Secondly -- thanks for visiting That Old House and noticing that I'm back. :-)
Happy summer! Cass

I'm crazy about your wooden birds that landed on your seashore. You did a great job with the theme close to the ocean or not. The ocean colors and accents are perfect.

Thanks for your visit. My hydrangeas did not bloom as well either after the harsher winter. Some of mine did not have blooms either.

Really pretty, Marigene! I love those colors together. It seems TJMaxx used to be such a wonderful place to find things but the past several years haven't been as good. Not that I need anything more!
