Aqua Time!

The inspiration for this week's table came from a post Pattie at Olla Podrida did on the bishop's mitre fold...even I could follow her instructions. (It looks like a difficult fold, but is really quite simple.) If you have never visited her blog, you have no idea what you are missing...it is one of my favorites...great recipes, fantastic photography and even napkin tutorials...thank you, Pattie!

Wanting to do a simple, mainly aqua table before I get into fall colors had to be now or wait until next year and being an impatient person I knew next year was too far away off. So I gathered some aqua pieces and got busy setting the table. Maybe it is a little too aqua, but it will hold me until next year! A little fact, although green is my favorite color...aqua is my favorite color for tablescapes.

I tried a white tablecloth, but quickly nixed that idea, then dark woven chargers, another no...then these light woven round place mats seemed to work okay.

The large turquoise napkin was perfect for the bishop's mitre fold. I didn't even iron the fold and it held just fine...maybe not quite as neat as Pattie's, though.

The aqua charger plate is topped with a white luncheon plate.

My old standby, Oneida Louisiana flatware is being used again.

I have used teal stemware...maker/pattern are unknown.

The centerpiece are 3 wood candle holders that I painted/distressed a bright aqua. When I tire of this color or need another color I will repaint them. Whenever I find turned wood candle holders at the thrift store I pick them up specifically for the purpose of painting them.

The pretty rims.

Everything on the table came from thrift stores with the exception of the luncheon plates, which came from TJMaxx about 5 years ago.

Thanks for taking the time to visit, hope you will return next time.

Marigene,
I just finished an inventory of several sets of my dinnerware and the last ones to do were my Homer Laughlin Turquoise/ Aqua dishes!!!
I love the aqua/white combination here and those napkin folds are exquisite!!!
Love your stemware!!!
Great tip about purchasing thrift store candle holders then painting them to co~ordinate with your tablescape. I'll be thinking along these lines next thrifting trip!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Marigene,
Such an interesting napkin fold. You did a great job on them. I love that so much of your table came from thrift stores. It really shows what can be done with not a whole lot of expense if we just have vision...
Very nice..

Your napkins came out perfectly! Aren't they amazingly easy to do? I am so glad that you gave them a try. And what gorgeous colors you chose for your table. I love that hue, and can only imagine all of the compliments that you received.

I think any time of year is aqua time!
I have fallen in love with it after my daughter's wedding and I can never get enough. It is hard to find beautiful napkins in aqua and folded like this, these make quite the statement. I am going to have to try that fold.
Your square aqua plates and stemware are fabulous too. Glad you chose to do them now.
(I can only take so much orange!!!)

So pretty! This shade of blue is my favorite. Sadly the decor in my home won't allow it so I just have to wear it :)

What a pretty tablescape, Marigene. I love the aqua, and I'm smiling because I repaint candle holders and vases all the time. Also, thanks for the roll recipe from the Spicery! I'm going to have to try them for the holidays. :)

I can see this table as something for summer, but with the addition of a few brown tones and maybe a bit of green, it could run right up into fall with ease!

I wish I had those chargers. They are really the diggity bomb!

You did a really good job on the napkins. You're right...they're fairly easy to fold. The problem for me is ALWAYS getting the edges to line up. I've given up. If my guests want to get picky over that, I'll just throw 'em a wet nap! :-)
