Golden Sunshine

First off, thank you for all the prayers and good thoughts for my husband while he is undergoing chemo treatment. He is just completing the first of 6 rounds, 5 days each time, as an in-patient at the hospital.

I love this time of year, it lets me use so many rich, warm colors of autumn. I have set a golden sunny table today...can you believe we are heading into the second week of September and everything is still green, which is very unusual for this part of the country. I have combined golds, greens, browns and a little rich ruby in the table runners. The linens are sunny gold tablecloth, colorful table runners in ruby and green napkins held with rusty metal napkin rings.

The plate stack begins with woven chargers, a medium green dinner plate, dark olive green salad plate and warm brown soup bowl set.

The flatware is Oneida Louisiana.

I love the olive-y green stemware.

The centerpiece is a bowl of cleverly made plaid acorns and acorn candle holders. Someone stuffed plaid material with soft foam, then glued it into Bur Oak acorns, which happen to be the largest of all native oaks in North America. The caps can measure up to 2-inches across and has fringe around the edge.

Thanks for visiting today...hope you will come back next time.

I will be joining Table It/Rustic & Refined.

*** I saw these acorns at Love Feast Shop and they are selling for up $20 each!

Marigene, your table is a golden delight! Every detail makes me wish fall were here, but Mother Nature has different plans for TX for the moment. I do think there is a hint of fall in the air, but also hot and humid still.
We planted Burr Oaks at our first home shortly after we moved in. Lived there 20 years, so by the time we moved they were huge and full. I still drive by our previous home and marvel at how stately those trees have become. Clever way to use the caps of the acorns. I've always picked up the acorns to fill a bowl. They are very interesting.

Marigene,

I have missed what's been going on with you and your husband. As my blog is on hold, I still look at everyone's posts. But with school starting again, I have not kept up. Praying for both of you for strength, healing and faith.

Marigene I am adding you and your dear husband to my prayer list. I know how hard it is to go through treatments but as a Breast Cancer Survivor I know you both can do it. Just remember the power of prayers is amazing!
I have to say this table is just so lovely. What a gift you have for making your home so beautiful. The colors are of course just fabulous and makes me want to start putting out my few fall pieces.
Your comment was so kind today and I do appreciate you taking the time to visit me. I did not realize you grew up in Vermont. I have to say I have spent most of my life wanting to visit your lovely home state. I can't imagine the beauty that one sees there year round but especially in the fall.
Your blog is just a breath of fresh air and sunshine. I love my visits.

I love your silverware and I think I have oak leaf napkin rings similar to yours. I must find them and make the most of them while we are in the season. All in all a lovely setting.

I love this table. The colors are perfect together. I've never heard of those acorns - I wish we lived where the trees grow - they would be such fun to gather. We have tiny acorns here - the caps are a little over a half inch across. Lots of oak trees - just tiny acorns. Your handled soup bowl sets are darling - I must find me some handled soup bowls - I think I'll shop around on ebay and etsy for a bit - I've not had a good "shopping trip" for a while now. Love the napkin rings too - they are perfect with the centerpiece. I think we should have vegetable soup and meat loaf for dinner - it would be perfect on your dishes - and sunny yellow corn.

(((Marigene))) I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's cancer. I'll be sure to say a prayer for both of you and I hope the treatment gets rid of it.

Your table settings in the last three post were absolutely delightful. You have such a wonderful eye.

I enjoyed looking at your previous table setting too. You have such an incredible flair for creating such warm, inviting tables. I am enjoying the colors in this one too, as well as the tablecloth, and oh these Acorns! I find these huge Acorns on my walk and now I am feeling very inspired to cover them with fabric-very neat.
You and your husband are in my prayers.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's chemo treatments. I'll pray for you both as he goes through his remaining 5 rounds and that his health will hold strong for the treatments. Chemo can take such a toll on our bodies! Your table is beautiful. I love the greens, browns, and golds. I'm most interested in those wonderful acorns. Where did you come across those? Thanks for sharing your festive fall table.

I am so glad your husband is finished with round one.

This is a beautiful table! Everything is still quite green here, too, so it doesn't make sense to me to drag out the dead stuff yet! I have never seen or heard of acorns like that. You taught me something new today.

I love thee warmth of the fall colors in this table setting. The fall leaves in the runners and the oak leaf napkin rings herald the beginning of the fall season beautifully. The stuffed acorns are as cute as they can be, they make a pretty centerpiece as well as a great conversation piece! A few of the maple trees in our area are starting to change into their fall colors.
