Upstairs Downstairs the other day, I decided to do a tartan table in honor of National Tartan Day, April 6. If you haven't checked out her delightful blog, you really should!

The only
real tartan I have is a square one from Goodwill a while back. I think it may have been meant to be used as a kerchief/babushka back in the 1950's-1960's. It makes a nice square for a table, though. The main colors are red and blue. There are very thin white and yellow lines of yarn running through, too.
I kept the table very, very simple, almost stark, so that you could enjoy the tartan pattern. If anyone knows this pattern by name, please let me know what it is.
I have used only a solid red Waechtersbach dinner plate and a dark blue Design House soup/salad bowl.
The stemware is Fostoria
Monet in the dark blue. It was manufactured between 1985-1986.
The napkins are solid red cotton. I have used the flatware many times, Oneida
Afterglow, circa 1958.
The centerpiece is a pillar candle in an urn with votives surrounding it. The candle looked too bare, so I added a little bit of lambs ear to jazz it up.
