One Of April's Best!

I think by now everyone knows that my favorite color for tablescapes is aqua, I have mentioned it enough times! The inspiration for this table came from an April Cornell tablecloth I found at TJMaxx back when the weather was still cold, can't say snowy, as we didn't get snow this past winter! This is one of my favorite tables, lots of aqua and orange. I really like this tablecloth, so many nice summer colors.  I paired the cloth with plain aqua napkins.

The plate layer begins with the Pier One white wood chargers, then an orange Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage charger, an aqua Mexcera cabbage dinner plate, and finally a gold kidney shaped Bordallo Pinheiro salad plate. I have also used Hoenig of California aqua apple dishes to hold the rolls.

The glassware is Pioneer Woman can be found at WalMart.

The cute little metal candle holder is from Hobby Lobby last year. I found the aqua candles at Goodwill several years ago

The mums and alstroemeria were the only two orange bouquets I could find at the market the other day. Surprisingly they look pretty good together.

Pumpkin Patch

I have used the same tablecloth as last week, this time with orange dishes. Quite a different look, I would say.

The orange charger/dinner plate is the first layer of the place setting.

I used the same aqua salad plate I used with the purple last week, to bring out the bits of aqua/teal in the tablecloth.

Next is the pumpkin salad/dessert plate, followed by a small pumpkin soup bowl.

The glassware is a tangerine Noritake Perspective water stem. I also have the tall champagne/sherbets, too.

I opted to use a plain pumpkin orange napkin with a simple fold.

I tried two centerpieces and finally settled on the taller, sparser one. No candles as this table will be used for a luncheon with friends.

Do you have a favorite between this week and last week's table...purple or orange? I like both, but think the purple edges out the orange by a hair!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins!

We have had the most beautiful week weatherwise that I can remember. Sunny, warm, cloudless days. I wish it would stay like this forever!

As I was going through the linens I noticed a tablecloth covered in pumpkins, leaves and acorns, just the right one for this week's Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch. For more inspiring tables just click on the link, sit back and enjoy.

To the tablecloth I have added dark green fringed napkins. The flatware is Oneida Afterglow, circa 1956.

The dinner plate is a solid white (Homer Laughlin White Dover), layered with a solid orange salad plate (Waechtersbach Orange Peel), an orange pumpkin dessert plate and then a small pumpkin soup bowl. Both are from the Better Homes and Garden Fall Collection.

The glassware is just an orange stem I found in a small antique shop in Topeka last spring. I don't know the pattern or maker.

I am using the mini white pumpkins again this week for the centerpiece. They are piled onto a white compote from TJMaxx. They are so cute, but will not last as long as I would like, so I will be getting mileage from them! I have added dried fruit and flower pods. The candlesticks, little ceramic pumpkins paired with orange tapers.

From Summer To Fall

I have been wanting to do a bright cheerful table so this is my transition from summer to fall table!

I bought this never been used embroidered tablecloth with matching napkins (which I didn't use today) at the very end of fall last year from Goodwill for $1.99 and napkins 59¢ each. I have been itching to use it. The pattern has been embroidered around the edges of the tablecloth, also. I pulled the orange and turquoise, two of the brightest colors, with a little of the autumn gold for the main colors. I kept the dishes to a bare minimum with such vibrant colors...simple is so much better in this case!

I used two solid colored napkins, bright orange and turquoise with beaded napkin rings, a gift from my friend Kathleen (Cuisine Kathleen). If you have never visited her fun blog, you really should take a moment to do so.

The buttercream charger is Pottery Barn Sausalito, the orange dinner plate is Better Homes & Gardens from WalMart.

The stemware is Noritake Sweet Swirl in aqua.

The centerpiece is a beautiful tureen given to me by our friends Paul and Denise. It is cream with an orange and brown transferware pattern. There is no backstamp on the bottom, so I have no way of knowing the maker or pattern. It has colors perfect for autumn.

I couldn't decide on candles or candle holders. First I tried large chunky black candle holders with pumpkin pillars, but felt they were too heavy for the table. Next I tried glass holders with aqua tapers, didn't like that, ended up with the glass holders and pumpkin pillars.
