Cock A Doodle Do!
It is once again time for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch. Thanks for hosting this weekly meme, Susan.
Another week of relentless heat and humidity in the center of the country. I am looking forward to cooler weather, but can't seem to find any on the horizon!
This table was built around salad plates I bought about 4 years ago. I had stuffed them in the bottom of one of the hutches and completely forgot about them until switched the dining and living rooms around. In fact, I found a few other treasures I had forgotten about. Each plate is a different color with a different rooster.
I have once again used the banana bark place mats. The charger plates are my favorites with roosters; a gift from my sister, Jerry. The white dinner plate is unmarked, almost identical to the Johnson Brothers I have.
The salad plates are Sakura Retro Rooster. The red plate beneath the Kennex Preston soup bowl are made by Syracuse.
The rim shot!
The flatware is Oneida Sterling Afterglow, circa 1956. The napkins and napkin rings are yard sale finds.
I pulled out the only yellow glassware I own. The wine glass is Indiana's King Crown/Thumbprint. The water glass, I don't know the maker.
I found the wood centerpiece at Savers the last time I was there and thought it might make a nice "vase"...with a glass insert. The wood candlesticks I have had for many years, I think they came from Dollar General. The Limelight hydrangeas are from the back yard...thankfully they haven't burnt to a crisp like the pink ones have.
The rooster pitcher has been in my collection for about 10 years. I found it locally at a little store that is no longer in business.
This is probably the last table for a few weeks, as I will be going to Vermont to visit my siblings. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a comment. I hope to see you back here when I get home from vacation.

Have a great visit, Marigene! I hope it's cooler there. The heat has been relentless here as well!
Very pretty table. I love those rooster plates!
I love your Rooster table. Those salad plates are so cute! I also 'loose' things in my hutch and closets. I'm glad you found these and put together this fun table. Enjoy your vacation! Is it cooler in Vermont? It's hot here and not getting any better! hugs, Linda
Yes, it's cooler here in Vermont but still has been hot and humid lately. Great table, Mari....you and your roosters! Nice setting. I loved your red and white one last week.
See you next week.
Love,
Delma
Perfect table for a nice country breakfast. I love how the pretty napkins tie everything in!
Very hot here, just trying to stay cool takes a lot of energy! lol!

Hmmm, that yellow looks a lot like a Noritake pattern my mom has in red but it's hard to tell. Love your different rooster plates!! They are adorable!!
This is beautiful! I love those rooster plates!
I love the way the striped napkins seem to echo the colors in the lovely layers of plates! And your yellow glassware is so pretty and unusual! Enjoy Vermont -- I hope it's nice and cool while you're there!
I think I have told you before that my Aunt Doris loves roosters and would go nuts over this tablescape. It is fabulous as they all are. When are you coming to Vermont? It is super hot here so you won't be cooler! love, bbb
I think that blogworld is gradually turning me into a rooster advocate. I bought a white rooster and hen pair of small planters just last week. Your yellow plates are wonderful. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
Have a wonderful vacation Merigene! I love your tablescape and rooster plates! I have a rooster plate hand painted at our past ceramic co., at my cloches post. Love roosters and your table is lovely. Hugs, FABBY

Over the 4th of July, my daughter caught a chicken at a chicken race. We ended up with two and I believe hers is a rooster -- hope the neighbors won't mind. I love those rooster chargers and the salad plates -- I am interested in getting some rooster-ware since we are raising some pet chicikens. Joni
Marigene,
This is lovely, dear! Don't you love it when sorting through you stumble on a forgotten treasure??? Enjoy your time with your siblings...hopefully it will be a "tad" bit cooler there!!! Be sure to pack plenty of cool air in your suitcase for the ride home to the Prairie!!!
Fondly,
Pat
P.S. On a saddened note...Linn county News had an ad that Big Dollar is "Going Out Of Business"!

Wonderful table setting. Love the rooster plates. You are like me, I am always buying stuff, putting them away only to discover them again months later....it's like buying them new all over again!! Diane

I am glad you found those salad plates, Marigene. They are so pretty. I like the polka dots in the background.....Christine
I like this table, Marigene, very warm and friendly. I'm going to have to incorporate roosters into a tablescape since I just brought som of Mother's to my house.
I love roosters too. I have never seen chargers like those yellow ones. They are so cute. Now I will on the hunt for some to add to my collection. I really love everything else too, especially your salad plates.
Have fun in Vermont!
I just love the rooster dishes. The table looks great...cute chargers too!

Hi Marigene, Thanks for coming over to my blog and looking at my gorgeous "new/old dresser". She is amazing isn't she? I am going to try and restore her rather than paint her. I think that Mahogany is such a beautiful wood and with just a little bit of cleaning and repolishing I am hoping that I can make her great again. The damage at the bottom may be a different story, but I'm not looking to make money on her, just to give her a better place than in someone's old flooded garage. If I can't manage it very well then I may end up paingint her. I think that wuld be a shame though.
Anyway, I love your table. The cockrell plates are to die for. I can't beleive that you forgot about them. lol. I bet you had a a squeal when you found them again. I would have! The yellow glasses are fantastic, I wish I had some like that. The whole table looks just lovely.
By the way enjoy the sunshine, it has been raiing here for months in New Zealand and it is driving me insane. The dog just brings mud into the house all the time, YUK!!
Take care Jo
Love those beautiful roster dishes and your placemats too!
Hugs
Charo

Isn't it fun to find forgotten treasures?!! They really "made" this tablescape. LOVE those napkins!
I hope you'll stop by if you get a chance. My Vintage Linen & Dish Auction is going on 'til 9PM Eastern on Monday!

Also, my Bunny Hop party happens every Wednesday. Of course you are always invited :)
