Cock A Doodle Do!

It is once again time for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch. Thanks for hosting this weekly meme, Susan.

Another week of relentless heat and humidity in the center of the country. I am looking forward to cooler weather, but can't seem to find any on the horizon!

This table was built around salad plates I bought about 4 years ago. I had stuffed them in the bottom of one of the hutches and completely forgot about them until switched the dining and living rooms around. In fact, I found a few other treasures I had forgotten about. Each plate is a different color with a different rooster.

I have once again used the banana bark place mats. The charger plates are my favorites with roosters; a gift from my sister, Jerry. The white dinner plate is unmarked, almost identical to the Johnson Brothers I have.
The salad plates are Sakura Retro Rooster. The red plate beneath the Kennex Preston soup bowl are made by Syracuse.

The rim shot!

The flatware is Oneida Sterling Afterglow, circa 1956. The napkins and napkin rings are yard sale finds.

I pulled out the only yellow glassware I own. The wine glass is Indiana's King Crown/Thumbprint. The water glass, I don't know the maker.

I found the wood centerpiece at Savers the last time I was there and thought it might make a nice "vase"...with a glass insert. The wood candlesticks I have had for many years, I think they came from Dollar General. The Limelight hydrangeas are from the back yard...thankfully they haven't burnt to a crisp like the pink ones have.

The rooster pitcher has been in my collection for about 10 years. I found it locally at a little store that is no longer in business.

This is probably the last table for a few weeks, as I will be going to Vermont to visit my siblings. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a comment. I hope to see you back here when I get home from vacation.

I think that blogworld is gradually turning me into a rooster advocate. I bought a white rooster and hen pair of small planters just last week. Your yellow plates are wonderful. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay

Over the 4th of July, my daughter caught a chicken at a chicken race. We ended up with two and I believe hers is a rooster -- hope the neighbors won't mind. I love those rooster chargers and the salad plates -- I am interested in getting some rooster-ware since we are raising some pet chicikens. Joni

Hi Marigene, Thanks for coming over to my blog and looking at my gorgeous "new/old dresser". She is amazing isn't she? I am going to try and restore her rather than paint her. I think that Mahogany is such a beautiful wood and with just a little bit of cleaning and repolishing I am hoping that I can make her great again. The damage at the bottom may be a different story, but I'm not looking to make money on her, just to give her a better place than in someone's old flooded garage. If I can't manage it very well then I may end up paingint her. I think that wuld be a shame though.

Anyway, I love your table. The cockrell plates are to die for. I can't beleive that you forgot about them. lol. I bet you had a a squeal when you found them again. I would have! The yellow glasses are fantastic, I wish I had some like that. The whole table looks just lovely.

By the way enjoy the sunshine, it has been raiing here for months in New Zealand and it is driving me insane. The dog just brings mud into the house all the time, YUK!!

Take care Jo

I am not a rooster person, but I do like the plates with the dots! Very pretty table with the yellow plates too!
Hope you have a good time! I looked at this post the other day on my ipad, but the text wasn't coming through, and I can't leave comments on blogger, it works with others though. Very strange.
Enjoy your visit with your family, I know this has been a rough year.

This table setting is right in line with Shelia's (Note Songs) Chickens and Roosters party. I think it starts on this Tuesday.

Also, my Bunny Hop party happens every Wednesday. Of course you are always invited :)
